Isn't OpenTV The build it yourself for free open source TIVO project, and if so, isn't this like friendly fire, except not so friendly, and not so accidental.
Pornagraphy laws which are why Theatres can be fined for letting un-accompanied children into R Rated movies are exactly and directly on topic. The law has determnined that graphic visual representation of certain concepts... violence, sex, etc can be legally restricted and now that is being expanded to cover video games in certain constituencies.
If you are dealing with a policy that strict, read at +4, give funny a -3, and use a friends list with +3... you could probably even drop back to +3 and give informative +3 also.
Or even the level of apparent professionalism. Some policies Can be interpreted to restrict everything from reading slashdot to checking the World Cup scores to illegal activity pr0n, mp3, movies. The policy is in place to encourage professionalism and allow the company to take action if necessary.
That Geocities cite was interesting, except of course for the fact that DC doesn't get any votes for president... Perhaps could be a mistake, but a mistake of that magnitude, means that there are likely other mistakes.... and a 1 person one vote system is inefficient except there there is a uniform population density over the entire area.
I really enjoyed Matrix: Reloaded. BUT, If I hadn't known that the Manyme scene would be CGI, I would have been really pissed on the several occasions it looked like the Final Fantasy Movie. But I knew it was coming... So despite the advances in CG, There is still a way to go before Live Action and CG flow Completely seamlessly.
Ok, are we talking about protecting minors or children? AFAICT, the Law actually defines at least 4 groups. Children Vs Citizens Broken at age 18. And Minors Vs Adults which draws the line at 21. And of course Then we have Emancipated Children/Minors.... All very confusing, anyway...
Limiting what children are permitted to "consume"has rather a vast precedent. Pornagraphy laws, smoking restrictions, Right to vote... etc.
Ok, Read some of that, and it showed Correlation, NOT Causation... They are different. And that is what some of us are saying. Some people have violent urges. Some of those people shoot up schools, Others(the Majority IMO) Shoot up the computer screen.
Actually, I think Morpheus put it best "She told you what you needed to hear."... He wasn't ready to understand/accept that he was the one. And Rescuing Morpheus was part of that experience.
A false theory of equality being interpreted to mean sameness. Women are not men, and in some cases should not be taught like men, or treated like men. Some of it is hormonal(mental) some biological(physical). Doesn't mean they shouldn't get equal treatment, just that in some circumstances esp early puberty, they both benefit from being taught seperately.
If it is free and worthless you mention that too. But as we all know Memory is pretty much the same ie SD 133 =SD 133. or DD 2700= DD 2700 doesn't matter who you got it from.
ANd yes I understand that out of spec won't perform as well, but I'm talking about properly specced and tested RAM.
Do you have a reference for the patent number?? I couldn't find anything on their site, and the USPTO is rather a beast to search with as little to go on as has been given.
The "Trackers" are dyanamic and can be turned off. I don't think that challenge response is ready for mainstream use, however if earthlink can get theirs working with the "average" computer user, then perhaps there is hope on the spam front.
I don't think that the dynamic Username+pin@mailblocks.com is as clean as other dynamic solutions for example the method used at cotse.net where the dynamic range is *@username.cotse.net. But that is just MHO. However for only 9.95 per year for mailblocks vs 5.95 monthly for cotse... I like absolute control and "expiring" addresses.
Yup, as someone else pointed out majordomo and all the other ancient(dark ages) mailing lists required you to type a phrase or word into the subject line. And as I recall there was a case sensitivity that was required.
I know that challenge response has been around longer than thatPRIOR ART. And challenging Earthlink is a bit foolish. All Earthlink needs to do is come up with the hundreds of thousands of examples of Challenge-Response systems in use as early as 1995 in order to verify an actual person was on the other side.

IBM doesn't want SCO. Less hassle to win this suit and crush SCO. Especially since buying SCO would suggest that the suit has any merit. IBM makes money on Linux, or they wouldn't be selling it. IBM is an ancient giant. They have survived the various computer revolutions, and have an enterprise attitude. IBM isn't going away, and has always been the Corporate and Government trend setter. Despite mistakes like MCA and the OS/2 fork, they have endured, and will likely continue to evolve, adapt and overcome.
Somehow I don't think IBM is going to acquire MS or Vice Verse. They are approximately the same size, not the order of magnitude difference that would be required for a takeover move.
So when I saw it in the theatre, and it said "TO BE Continued" that was just creative license??? WTH... Now I will grant that I haven't seen the interviews...
To make it even worse, the legislation he was involved in was the legislation that led to the commercialization of the internet and hence the popups we all loath. Not something I would be bragging about.

Ok, how does a movie that was rated R/X in 1979 get played the following year on "fledgling UPN network" which came into being in 1995???
