Erlang isn't aimed at the same niche though. Neither Lisp (barely a functional language to begin with) nor Clean is meant for extreme multiprocessing. I don't believe Clean supports loading code into a running system, although it may become possible with the upcoming dynamic linker.

Or would be if it... you know, existed.

I'm sure you're taking the Internet crank world by storm. Best of luck to you.
I've seen a few of the movies and read a couple of the books, and I haven't become interested either. If you didn't like the films, I doubt you will like the books. The LoTR books were better versions, in my opinion, of the movies, but the Harry Potter movies are pretty faithful to the character of the books.
Regardless of whether it hurts you, they don't have the right to limit the platform you can run it on any more than you have the right to run it on whatever you choose. They can try, of course, but it's a stupid thing to do.
None of the words in their poll are a problem for me (excepting blook, which I suspect they made up just to fluff out their poll options), but the phrase, "I'm sorry, but...." drives me nuts.

Oh no, not by half. It's not recursive, for one thing. It doesn't contain any superfluous letters to tell you about its ideological leanings. It's easy to figure out how to pronounce.
I don't believe so. Interactions with hardware (and all I/O, for that matter) are inherently non-functional, since input is not guaranteed to be the same on every run. It doesn't make any difference whether you call it a file or something else. Monads seem to be required either way.
Here's a question though: what the hell is that program down in the lower right? As far as I know, it's nothing that comes with Plan 9. I've been wondering ever since I first saw that shot.
(and I know that every one of you ARE racist, even if you think you're not) and I don't think that's what's going on here, but definitely condescending. America isn't the center of the universe, yo.
It's a dying empire that still has some bux to blow!
Well it's a good thing we have nice guys like you to straighten us racists out!
I was waiting for someone to point this out.:) Yeah, you can clip it harder, but I don't think it's likely that so much distortion will be acceptable to the average listener (nor the increased risk of blown speakers). Obviously it's a continuum and we have to pick how far we're willing to go. My opinion is that we've gone about as far as we can go without offending even untrained listeners. On the other hand, who knows what a person raised on heavily distorted music will find acceptable? I find music from old records to sound shockingly bad, but they sold well. Without hearing clear recordings, can a person recognize a bad one?
Seems more likely that switching between tasks just distracts you from noticing how poorly you're working.
Why thank you. I was trying to figure out what a Storage Attached Network might be.
Nvidia definitely has some driver issues with Thief -- it won't even start with the latest drivers.
You're not alone. Lots of people who aren't really familiar with Lisp do the same thing.
I've got to butt in too. Abbreviating Common Lisp as CLisp is confusing and wrong. CLISP is a Lisp implementation. Common Lisp is abbreviated CL.

By "media keys" I meant the media player controls that appear on the left of some laptop keyboards. Mine has play/pause, stop, seek, and so on.
That depends on what they are. Laptops may need a special driver for their media keys, or a card reader.
Even I knew that off the top of my head. What exactly are the editors doing with their time.
I'm not sure your link is correct.
'something that is happening now'
'the "current" situation'
Riiight. These are completely different.
I believe permissions are wonky with ntfs-3g, so it would be akin to running on a FAT system.

You should have just left it alone. I thought it was a pretty good joke until you spoiled it.

That was my guess when I saw it mentioned in a comment further down the page. Thanks for confirming.

I love Plan 9's soothing colors.

Can anyone help me out?
