You're probably right. I do think we're getting closer to the public saying "Oh just deal with it" to the existing entertainment industry. It takes time for the public's resentment to build up (as it did with movies retarding TV's implementation), but once it's there, it's irresistable.
You'd think TiVo and other PVR's (Replay, Myth, Sage) would lead to increased TV viewing, but I would argue it keeps you from watching that piece of junk between two shows you actually care about. That gets you out of the habit of just mentally grazing TV and into the habit of active viewing
My cable company has already started forcing us to move to digital if we want to keep the service we had a month or two ago. HBO Signature, Bravo, Sundance, BET Jazz, and a few channels I don't watch have been moved to a digital tier. This is not a real barrier. You're getting moved to digital sooner or later anyway.
I've said it before. It's been modded as flamebait before. I'll say it again and it's not a flame.
Anti-trust is DEAD under this administration. It wasn't kicking so strong under Clinton either, but it was alive. Remember the MS suit that was tossed out as soon as the Bush team took office?
If I had mod points this would get insightful all over it. Really good point.
I do wonder if we're really getting "lower" prices with the card or if they're merely jacking up the price to those who choose to keep their privacy intact.
People like stability when it comes to their livelihood. Very few of us have that these days. Technologies change, companies get bought, departments merge, whole functions get outsourced.
We do great and mentally challenging work, but our inner caveman wants a nice field with slow dumb deer nearby, and instead we have a forest with a buch of deer, but a bunch of bears, also.
You rate that a flamebait? Modding it down doesn't make it any less true. Anti-trust is dead under Bush. Remember how fast the MS cae that was pending was dismissed when junior got in office?
We should shoot for Linux versions of Everquest, SW Galaxies, Dark Age of Camelot - all the big MMORPG's
The MMORPG's generate a lot of money not through the software but through the subscriptions to the service required to play the game online. Give away the razor, sell the blades.
If an enterprising developer adds a Linux client and makes their money back plus a nice ongoing profit, we'll attract a lot of other game developers to Linux.
Free as in freedom for the OS, reasonably priced as in beer for the games.
Star Wars: Episode III: A Big Pile of Sith
They're Jutes, at best. Or possibly Ostrogoths.
Ghost of Christmas Future Taunts Children With Vision of PlayStation 5
...but I don't think I ever chickened a nuke.
Long story. Short version - I had a sig that confused some people and they ticked me off.

Yes, but voting Republican is still optional until 57.
Now I know you're lying. No one enjoyed Jeremiah.

Sucks even more to be a David Nelson soon, I'll bet. Link.
It's dangerous to post stories late on a Friday. All the punch drunk comes out all at once.
That pic of him on the article makes him look like one of the Onion's columnists.
He makes good points, but update the photo, man.
Isn't this tomorrow's Photoshop on FARK?

Mod was a Political hack.
And uses BSD to run it? When did that happen?
Though they sure did go after Martha, didn't they?
Off to Whitehouse.com now...
I'm sure the parent will get modded as flamebait, but I laughed out loud.

I'll give you that one. Strong work.
Now THAT would be impressive.
