I worked for a riverboat casino as a systems administrator. The IT department and server rooms were under the gaming floor, which put us at about 6 feet below water level. They had huge flood doors on the hallways leading to IT. However, the doors weren't to protect us if a leak occurred, but instead to keep any flooding (or people, I guess) from leaving the IT area and sinking the boat. On top of that, the Buick-sized UPS was in the same area, so if we were flooded, we would get locked in with the rising water AND a fully-loaded power supply. I left to work for a nuclear facility because it seemed safer.
That's just it, though. By shopping at the Apple store, we expect a little more forward thinking in the design. Needing two power adapters is enough to keep me from shelling out $149 for it. I can buy "Chevy" speakers that are a little uglier and save a bit of money. I don't think these Altec-Lansing speakers can qualify as Apple high-end stuff. I think A-L is just throwing out a white box with speakers hoping iPod-aphiles will buy just because it's "designed for iPod".
When purchasing music on iTunes, you get an image of the album cover that displays when you play the song. I do wish you could get some of the interior CD liner art, lyrics, etc. That can't be too far down the road, though. CD liners have thank you notes, production information, studio info, etc that's currently not available from the legal download sites. I'm sure they'll want to add that, eventually.
Except that Wal-Mart is not a convicted monopolist. Netflix at least has a fighting chance, Netscape didn't.
It's in their blood, though. Wal-mart has been convicted of dropping prices below cost at individual stores to kill the local mom'n'pop competition. Then they would jack the prices back up when they became the only game in town.
It was pretty popular for Wal-mart when opening new stores in small towns, before they were busted for it.
Supposedly, an adapter is available for $5 that restores the headphone jack. I've yet to see one in stores, though. The SP is great, I agree. I was finally able to see Metroid Fusion well enough to finish it. Great game.
You don't have to use MSN broadband with Qwest. I have DSL thru Qwest and use a third-party ISP (4dv.net). Not so much for the anti-M$ reasons, but because I get more features. MSN DSL still won't let you use gameservers or set up your own webserver.
Seems kinda strange to use MSN on a Mac. There are plenty of ISP options for Mac which would be either cheaper, or have more options for Mac users. Why have MSN if it's a crippled version?
I have a 14" iBook and the lid design is different than the TiBooks. The screen doesn't touch the keyboard. The 12" Powerbook has a similar case design to the 12" iBook and doesn't touch either. I don't know about the 17. I would imagine that if they addressed the issue with the 12", they would with the 17 also.
Why do you consider it mindnumbing? I'm 27, and I've been working with AS/400s for about 4 years. They aren't anymore mindnumbing than running an *nix CLI, or point and clicking all day. On a side note, the AS/400 is quite the machine. I could sit and name all the great things it can do that are better and faster than any Intel system, but it'll still be labeled "mindnumbing" because it doesn't play solitaire.
the way of the future, then Alabama and Mississippi are on the cutting edge. We southerners have been developing and using modular homes for quite some time. As a matter of fact, I have a double-wide! Eat yer heart out, Bill Gates! You no longer have the home of the future!
It's owned by AOLTW, and is free. Does this mean I'll have to get my national news from MSNBC? This could really be a problem because AOLTW has their fingers in a lot of pots, so a lot of high-content sites could quickly disappear?
Also, has anyone interviewed AOLTW's advertisers about this? They can't be too crazy about having limited viewership. I would imagine an AOL-only crowd would skew demographics heavily...

Another option is a program called SideTrack. It lets you map the corner of your trackpad to be the right-click. Works great.

I hate going to the software store and seeing a Mac game for 49.95, then seeing the same title in PC format in the 9.99 sale bin.

Why wouldn't Verizon have a right to sell information about what people do in their homes? (/sarcasm)
