If all you're ordering is books or even software, the UPS does not require a signature for the 2-day shipping. Something like three out of four deliveries don't even warrant a rung doorbell from our UPS guy when he drops off our Amazon packages.

Ah, but don't you just love extra links? From her lawyer's blog: "Through the Electronic Frontier Foundation we and our firm have undertaken to represent people in our area who have been sued by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for having computers whose internet accounts were used to open up peer-to-peer file sharing accounts." Her lawyer doesn't seem to be interested in settling.

We have similar troubles these days, Duckie. It is pretty amazing the difference one person can have on a company. *sigh* Last year Waldens got a new president, and he just really emphasizes the numbers... He's one of those traveling corporate types who goes from company to company... He started with Border's, went to Ford, then came back as president of Waldens. No idea if that makes him an outsider or not, but he is pretty heavy with the customer service for the sake of the numbers rather than the customer. I'm pretty sure we annoy people now for some abstract, corporate idea of what customer service is. Waldens has been a part of Border's for just about always, but it's sad to see how things can change just with the hiring of one type of person.

  5. We Can't be That Hard to Figure Out... on Girls Got Game · · Score: 5, Interesting

For whatever reason, these types of articles or comments always put me into this semi-amused/semi-annoyed mood, as if girl-gamers are so difficult to figure out.

The PS2 and the Cube are *mine*; they do not belong to my brother. Of course, my game library contains "typical attractive to female gamers" games (RPGs), but on the Mac, I can hold my own. My Scintillating Sphere saved our arses last night when we were playing through NWN, and I've brought the flag over to our side a few times in Elite Force. I may not be into the war games of which my brother is so fond, or the whole 'Rainbow-6' genre like my brother, but I do like the sci-fi FPS. I even liked Oni, a shame what happened to Bungie... I also happen to be a regular on a gaming forum, but I'm one of two female regulars.

I play the SIMS, but my brother plays it more than I do since there's a distinct lack of magic missiles in that game. I didn't play FFX-2.

So how hard can it be? But then, perhaps I fall into 'atypical', seeing as how I'm the only one at the store who can recognise that the shirts a regular customer of ours wears come from ThinkGeek.
