Can someone honestly tell me why this is a significant product? I mean, as far as I can tell this is a cordless mouse with a laser pointer attached. Why is the use of bluetooth so necessary?

Stormtrooper on Vacation.
No kidding. I took a stormtrooper helmet, threw on some surfer shorts and a Hawaiian shirt. It's great!
Negatory, good buddy. Truckers pay enormous taxes on diesel, much more than we do. Run a google search on 'truckers diesel taxes' for some relevant links.
At any rate, your idea for better rails is a good one, but it has flaws. For instance, it's very possible that more rails wouldn't affect the amount of big rigs on the road. Trucks are still needed to get goods to the warehouse, unless you have a rail system that goes *everywhere*. That would eliminate the efficiency of a rail system.
Less trucks on the road would be safer, but at the moment there's really no way around it.

Yahoo Moving to PHP

Well, I dont work for Yahoo! (and I'll assume that you don't either, otherwise you would have mentioned that) but it sounds to me like they would like to use something more organized than the scripting engine they've been writing for the past 7 years. What they have may appear to work just fine to the end user, but inside the vast codebase of Yahoo! there could be really serious problems.
Think about it. After that long that thing's gotta be looking pretty ugly. With PHP they would have a more sane development environment. Writing your own C/C++ (interperet that as C AND C++, it is possible) scripting engine for CGI is just really sloppy most of the time.
I could understand your concern if they were moving to something corporate like ASP. I would assume that Microsoft cut them a deal or something. But when someone like Yahoo! chooses PHP to develop in, you know theyre doing it for all the right reasons.
As an alum, I can only guess that RPI had something to do with lobbying for this. This would really revitalize the area and provide some possible research opporunities for the computer engineering department.
Basically, if theyre not involved now, they will be. Go figure, 2 months after I graduate...
I went to school in Troy, NY at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the've been talking about this kind of expansion before. I believe, however, that there's been some resistance from the local population because they're afraid of pollution.
However, I think people will change their tune when they realize how many jobs something like this will create. And believe me, the capital region of NY can use all the jobs it can get.
I must say I've gotten spoiled by the GUI that's available in Microsoft's SQL Server Enterprise Manager. It's damned nice.
I assume you've heard of/used phpmyAdmin, a PHP web application that reminds me alot of the interface to MSSQL Enterprise manager (though not as full featured, I'll admit). Anyway, it's something to check out if you're interested. Saves alot of time on testing and prototyping.
Frankly I like that there are 2 efforts going on. Maybe one will succeed.
I disagree. I liken the phenomenon of having 2 major versions of Mono in the open source community to, say, splitting the vote within a political party. It's just not smart when we know that the Open-source share will likely already be less than Microsoft.
I hope the consolidation of these projects benefits the effort on a whole, and, if people do it right, it will.
Despite Web site postings that said "Hacked by Chinese," a Chinese network safety official says that the fast-spreading Code Red Internet worm was probably not made in China.
I'm inclined to agree. This is simply someone who wants to forcibly make their political views known through a worm. Probably the best way of going about it these days, but I certainly dont condone the method.

After all, the only real reason a company will give you Internet access in your office these days is because more and more business applications require it. Therefore companies expect a certain level of usage discipline from their employees.

Unfortunately, you're absolutely right. All this is going to do is drive up the prices of the actual processors.
I personally hope that the removal of RDRAM will force them to drive up the quality of the pentium series (or create a new series for Pete's sake).
Anyway, I dont have numbers, but I'm pretty sure that AMD systems are more than comparable these days. Maybe they'll start looking at them as more serious competitors now that they have SMP solutions.
Has anyone confirmed that the new SMP support works with Intel's new HT chips? It should, right?
Jeez, I dont know. Celeborn told me to stay away from Fangorn.
Oh foghorn! Nevermind.

Did the submitter just guess the url of the article? Damn, you gotta teach me how to do that.
Out of curiosity, which hardware were you having issues on, and what were the nature of the problems?

The hard part is finding the helmet.

And diesel died in the US many years ago.
In other news, truckers everywhere are frantically trying to get their rigs running on hopes and dreams.
Don't like it? Don't go to a major university.
Either that or GPL your work. That's exactly what I did for my computer science classes.
