    the lack of xml compatibility is a bit of a pain but it makes almost no difference, everyone has been dealing with that for years. saying that it's like the old ie/netscape days is pants on head retarded. good luck with the self flagellation, but html5 is a massive step up even with it's flaws; oh and by the way, html 5 isn't even a standard yet, so don't bother even wondering about (x)html 6

    i'm pretty sure anyone who is actually likes good cinema or books can think of several examples where a good story was enhanced hugely by a good twist. that being said probably 95% of movies etc can't really be spoiled effectively.

    this is pretty true, at one point we were pretty much told to nuke any spreadsheets we could find and roll the functionality into our other applications, after seeing some of the absolutely required and totally horrific functionality built into some of these bad boys we pretty much turn the other cheek a lot of the time.

    heh, you might be impressed by needless bullshit, but i require my features to be actually useful; unless you actually think adding the ribbon to paint was worth the effort. the couple of good bits in vista and 7 could have been pretty easily implemented on XP, though i won't begrudge them a few clean-ups to make them easier... though i wouldn't really put vista in the "clean up" category.

    i think they're going for a more evolutionary rather than revolutionary release cycle, there's no real reason to re-write your OS over 8 years just to add a couple of bells and whistles
