    flash has always sucked, it's good on x86 now because they've bug fixed the steaming pile of crap for years and they've actually managed to get it pretty stable. if you're looking for the next big thing in delivering video content it's probably going to be google's v8 thing, since they own youtube and that's 80 % of all video content right there, as well as being open source so the zealots can feel good about it (saying that with love since i am one).

    Exactly this. next they'll say dx 12(?) will be windows 8 only as well the new versions of messenger etc and just hope that people eventually have enough reasons to upgrade.

    it's different to outsourcing in that the idea is to give it to someone who has better facilities or can just manage servers flat out better, rather than just shovelling work off to someone who can do it cheaper. not every company should be running their own datacentre.

    nothing in your post even approaches logic, what you are basically saying is because they heard about something they couldn't have possibly experienced it's a "red flag"... hate to break this to you but 99% of everything you know you didn't experience first hand. Of course no 2 horses are the same size, but a lot of measurements have come from rough guesses, i see no reason why railways may or may not be based on the width of a horse. Nobody uses their words to prove anyone wrong because it's a pointless exercise, you're going to continue believing that snopes is a conspiracy against railways or something no matter who's right, so really what's the point of getting worked up about it.

    to disagree simply for the sake of disagreeing, i don't really think that's analogous, a book is an entirely different medium where as 3d *should* simply be like the same 2d view with more clarity, allowing you to something something dark side.

    i wouldn't let you keep you up at night, mass market brewers probably tried to sell cans pretty bloody hard when they first started making them, even if all the mass market breweries move to aluminium bottles it's cheaper and easier for smaller brewers to use glass ( i would assume ) and even then i can't see those who are actually producing beer for the taste rather than the marketability switching.

    how is a set top box not a media player? just because the front end is probably running a html 5 browser doesn't mean they can't do whatever the hell they want with the codec behind the scenes, in fact they'll probably encode and stream it in whatever codec they feel gives them the most quality for their bandwidth, if the MPEG-LA want to stay competitive they'll have to . the idea that no-one will rip movies is just plain stupid and is a completely separate issue to whether physical media will become irrelevant. Who do i stand with? who cares. but currently we have a bunch of codecs and 90% of my media will only play on PCs, maybe an open source codec as the default will fix that, i'm willing to give it a try after the fucking mess that's occurring at the moment.

    pretty much everything you've said here is bullshit, why would any hardware/software player manufacturer go "oh, i support youtube, guess i'm done, people won't want to watch ripped dvds or their existing content etc etc etc".

    both firefox and chrome having hardware 3d acceleration, i don't think it's that big of a stretch to guess that quite complex 3d browser based games will be popular in a few years

    double click to maximise is the the only way i do it, however it is less than obvious. It's a bold move but they need to figure out some non-annoying training wheels to get away with this.

    you use more than one application at a time? what absolute bullshit, people can only do one thing at once and while you might think you're "multitasking" what you're actually doing is just wasting time trying to re-adjust to whatever 3 things you're giving bugger all attention to.
