    drinknpoo,

    Ah, I see, 24 was indeed un-aired, however;

That user, named ECOTtotal, is also alleged to have uploaded 12 episodes of The Simpsons, some quite old.

I'm not sure why I foe'd you, but i'm sure it was appropriate.

So, 24 and the Simpsons are on FOX. I have an antenna on my roof to get local channels. I've paid nothing to watch these shows.

So why is it a problem to provide a copy of something that was already given away for free?

I suppose advertising gets stripped but what the hell? Oh and thanks google for not being evil.

It's one thing to bring up religion, in a humorous fasion, when it's in the context of the article.

It's another entirely to say, out of the blue, "If the Bible has taught anything, and it hasn't, it's that old people are worthless and that they should spend their remaining days watching the Price is Right, yelling at kids who are on their lawns, eating at the Sizzler, and such and such."

That's just not funny and really, it's just plain dumb.

    From the article:

"Every open source product that has become tremendously successful became successful because of huge dollar investments from commercial IT operations like IBM and Oracle and Intel and others."

So Oracle's attempted purchase of JBoss was to make JBoss succeed? Nah, JBoss has been pulling corporations, big and small away from Oracle's middleware stack and they're not happy about it. OSS can succeed, without the Oracle's and IBM's of the world.

Either you have a hearing problem, or you haven't played your MP3's on your B&W system. The loss of fidelity is VERY obvious on any system with a reasonable frequency response.

Actually, I have an overclocked Athlon XP 1700 with 3 case fans and no headphones... Even with a nice set of headphones (Closed On-Ear) I wouldn't be able to drown out 3, 5400RPM 3" muffin fans.

Since I have a decent DD5.1 setup with some nice B&W speakers, I'm going to buy a DVD-A disc to test out.

I can't tell the difference between the a CD and a compressed MP3, nor can I distinquish an OGG from an MP3, but I bet I'll hear a big difference from 2 Channel Stereo to 5.1 Channel DD.

It all boils down to what you've got. If you've got the DVD player and a decent DD setup, what have you got to lose? $20?

I'm not gonna run out to the store and by a newfangled DVD player, DD receiver and speakers just because Sony and others have this new technology... I already have all that.

If you are in an area served by SBC check out DSL. I have Enhanced/Basic DSL that comes with 5 static IP's, a couple email addy's and 128Kbps up / 1.5Mbps down. There is no bandwidth/month limit, no restrictions on services you can run from your line, and as an added bonus, if you want to host your own DNS, you can do both forward AND reverse.

Do any of you have Sympatico or Videotron and if so what happens when you hit the 5gb limit? This would really suck and if SBC ever adopts this I'm gonna be... well... bending over and asking for more cuz there is no alternative for static IP DSL connected to a remote terminal 1000' from my home. Damnit!

Its most recent decision also follows a class-action lawsuit filed last week in California's Superior Court in Santa Clara County.

I know it's a little off-topic but regardless of how Palm decided to handle this situation, we should all be glad that a class action lawsuit wasn't filed. In Madison County IL. there is a group called ILAW (Illinois Lawyer Abuse Watch (I think))investigating class action lawsuits and some of their findings are scary.

Verizon went through a class action lawsuit and all the participants were awarded some trivial $20 refund, or some voucher for a free month of service while the lawyers raked in millions of dollars.

These 'millions' get written off by the company and get passed to us. Not to say all Class-Action lawsuits are bad, but some are down right scary.

    I know off-topic a tad. Oh well.
