I don't think its a fair comparison.
Opera offers a mail client, an RSS reader. Firefox will get these if you install other software. You still won't get the integration.
Opera is MUCH faster, its not even funny how much faster. I can't use firefox at all these days, because I get impatient.
Opera is WAY more customizable than firefox, unless of course you write XUL. (?)
Opera releases are very frequent. Check out their beta testing forum.
Opera DOES not need java for it to work.
With admuncher, opera will block ads. With a hosts file that happens for free. Thats not so different from adblock.
It doesnt make sense to compare the browsers on a point by point basis like that -- you just have to use what you like. I use opera. I paid for it, even though I'm a poor graduate student [use your student discount]. Its the first piece of user software I install on any computer I use.
Actually, as a Hindu and an Indian, I can say with some confidence that creationism is not taught in Indian schools. Its true that there are Hindu extremists just as there are Moslem and Christian extremists; and there are Hindu religious schools; but Hinduism, maybe because of how old it is, does not usually try to explain creation or to dispute science in this. There is a Hindu creationist theory and it has its own date, but Hindus are suprisingly able to separate their religion from their science. They will still tell you that the world was created by Brahma, but that doesnt affect the scientific view of things.
Rip the DVDs to some sort of bin/cue or iso files, and then write a script that will mount the DVD that you want, when you want it. On Linux, use any DVD player software to use that directory as your DVD source, and you should have access to the DVD exactly as if you placed it in the DVD drive.
I think if you read the article carefully, you will realize that the reason other Yahoo groups were blocked was because of a technical issue. The Indian Govt did not set out to cut off Indian citizens from the internet, or to ban free speech or anything like that.
I am an Indian, I lived in India for 22 years, and I dont think "democracy is in trouble" or any such thing is true as far as India is concerned.
The corruption in government or things like that dont make India any less of a democracy -- in a government of the people, the people are free to screw themselves over, if they want to. Name one democracy that is not corrupt to some degree. I'm not defending corruption or the corrupt officials, just saying that I've never felt more free than in India.
Time for "expert" editors at Slashdot?

This is the second time in the past week I've winced after reading the title of a story here at Slashdot. The first, of course, was the story about Science choosing small RNAs as their story of the year. I'm a biologist, and both of these stories are so obviously written by people who didnt understand them, that it is embarassing to read them. Atleast thats how it seemed to me. Slashdot is mostly a computer geek hangout, and so the stories have to placed in geek-terms, I guess, but they dont have to be WRONG and OVER-simplified! A lot of the comments are factually incorrect too. What I'm getting at is a proposal: Appoint Slashdotters who are qualified in various fields: Biology, Physics and other specialized areas to edit stories about those
topics, and decide whether a story is worth posting. This story for example, is not Slashdot-news-worthy in the least, and biologists here will agree -- its more a cool technical result than "binary DNA"; sheesh!

(only joking)
clearly there was evolutionary pressure to maintain the same size for all species on the island: giant lizards, pygmy elephants, and small humans.
nope. deliberate invocation of godwin's law invalidates it.
Oh there is no way this guy is an Indian, and if he is, he should be ashamed of himself -- I thought only ignorant media people spell it "Ghandi"...
you dont need no software -- just mount, copy mp3 or ogg files or directories to the drive, and you're all set to go.
Try this on your Prof. Phreak: To talk or not to talk. That is the question.

Actually, I think this might be the coolest job on the planet.....
Whoa.. you just reinvented Popperism in some form.. Congrats!
Sorry -- the meaning of Soujanyam that is applicable here is "Courtesy", as in "Courtesy of American Airlines".
Swatantryam means Freedom. Soujanyam means Cooperative, of/with/together with many people.
fp?
