    Looks like version 7.5 will also include a native Windows port. Prior to this, PostgreSQL on Windows has always required Cygwin (which offers a lot of great stuff in and of itself) to run.

    Actually, they probably already are using MySQL! I've had some pretty nasty crashes and corruptions with it. One crash using INNODB tables was unrecoverable.

    PostgreSQL OTOH has had 0 problems.

    I've been told by the Apache crowd that the Prefork MPM obviates any concerns of thread safety in libraries.

    I've been using 2.x for about a year. Zero problems. Performs great.

    Sigh, I really wish these books would get with the times and start using PostgreSQL (or even Firebird) and Apache 2.x (I assume the book uses Apache 1.x since the PHP developers seem so against 2.x).

    So you have a ton of stuff in the PATH environment var? I assume all the bin/ dirs are in the respective distribution dirs.

    If it wasn't for competition, Yahoo would continue to descend into suckdom. Maybe, hopefully, they'll do away with the ripoff that is their $300 annual fee for being considered for listing in their directory. Ridiculously greedy.

    BTW, Yahoo's mail servers appear to be slashdotted??
