it will double the encoding work. NPR isn't the wealthiest broadcasting organization around, and it will cost more money to encode and serve multiple stream formats. They're trying to keep it simple.
Rich people are already in the habit of buying things in countries where the tax rates are better. It's a lot cheaper to buy a yacht in Greece than in the USA.
Does SUSE make a PowerPC edition? If so it's not unreasonable to think someone could install it on an iMac. At least they didn't use an aluminum G5 case as the icon.
The amps are actally very usable. There's one lead guitar tone with delay that actually kicks some ass. I don't have the jam pack for the additional amps, but that one tone alone is worth buying iLife for. It's really cool to plug your guitar right into the powerbook line-in port and get an amp sound.
I consider cable companies to be the anti-christ as much as everyone else, but they're not monopolies. I can get cable TV, Dish Network, or Direct TV pretty much anywhere (especially satellite, I guess you need a phone line), and there's always plain 'ol free TV with the rabbit ears. Let's face it - cable TV is not a necessity and you can disconnect it and life will contiue as normal, as it did for me when I got rid of it.
There's nothing bad about a browser-based music store. iTunes is just a browser inside the iTunes program, after all. Remember AudioGalaxy? Great app with a browser based app that ket you queue your songs remotely.
There's nothing legal about allofmp3.com. It's a russian pirate site, albeit a very well made one. Don't kid yourself into thinking the artists are getting paid here, and it's certainly not legal in the USA.
Put your tinfoil hat on. The WTO is definitely one organization with power so incredible that America can pushed around just like we have a habit of pushing others around. Read Greg Palast's "The Greatest Democracy Money Can Buy" and make up your own mind. It's not just american corporations pushing the world anymore. its multi-national corporations and organizations like the WTO that contain power than *at times* supercedes the American Government's. Our elected officials signed into these treaties and organizations, we have no else to blame.
Your comment exactly validates what I'm saying. Steve Jobs knows there are more people like me than there are people like you. For his insight, which you ridicule as "Puuurlease", he earns his company millions of well-deserved dollars. Ain't it grand?
Not only did most people around here ridicule Apple for putting out the iPod mini, they ridiculed them for putting out the original iPod in the first place. Slashdotters must have as good a chance of predicting the final four than Artie Lang.
By the way, I have a 10 gigger and I have a little over 2 gigs on the sucker, even after a year or so of ownership. Saying 4 gigs isn't enough is a little dumb if you ask me.
Amen. I created my last powerpoint presentation in keynote, exported it as a powerpoint presentation, then emailed it to my Windows box.
The beautiful high resolution quality of the powerpoint presentation became a flat looking turd compared to the original. This presentation was for someone else - I can't wait to give a presentation myself so I can show these people the power of good software.

I think there are more than a few developers out there who might be interested in porting it to Linux. Isn't *that* important?

finally I can play dopewars in the shower!
Could you share some with me? My connection went down last Saturday and I haven't been able to sleep.

Go ahead and make fun of him. He's an asshole.
Happy April Fool's Day, it started already and its only 10:45 PM pacific time. Gotcha East Coast!
Hypercard and Stephen King on the same day, what a shame.
As I read this, I wonder if anything in here is useful for scoring chicks. Cuz then I'll buy it damn I just bought it.
As soon as the mugger steals one, a newer cheaper iPod comes out for mugging the next week. The vicious cycle repeats infinitely.
I've seen 2 cool ones lately:
My favorite upright bass
4 String Upright Washtub Bass
Great for roots and rockabilly.
It wasn't their report that made the RIAA choke, they were just trying to pronounce these guy's names.

Wrong - Apple doesn't own Fairplay, they license it from Veridisc.
This article is pointless.

In OO do a simple "save as" and save it in word format, similar steps for excel and powerpoint.
By the way I haven't seen anyone mention Sun Microsystems here, we owe a lot of our Open Office success to their team. Cheers.
Where's the Klingon version? It's the only way i communicate on Thursdays ...oops.

This is the future of your daily newspaper. Yes it's been claimed before, but this time I finally believe it.
