Good scifi is not just about the laser beemz and the death rayz. It is and always has been about the PEOPLE. given that you have all this new technology, how does it impact humanity as a society and the individual's morality.
the point of science fiction is to project oursevles beyond the limitations of our current everydayness and examine where we stand on a much deeper level.

Highly intelligent and well-informed people disagree on every political issue. Therefore, intelligence and knowledge are useless for making decisions, because if any of that stuff helped, then all the smart people would have the same opinions. So use your "gut instinct" to make voting choices. That is exactly like being clueless, but with the added advantage that you'll feel as if your random vote preserved democracy.
isn't it awesome to be part of the RIAA though? you get all this money from the record companies and get to use it without any recouping of costs. all they do is spend spend spend. track record for income is...zilch.

It's not legal to shoot a human target with a 50 caliber sniper rifle. However, it is legal to shoot the helmet he's wearing.
so when did the Japanese government get permission to use the Sri Lanka lands for the anchor of the Space Elevator. Don't we need to develop carbon nanotubes first? or are we going to use Buckminsterfullerene?
