Applix went down the CRM business road,
Applixware was inherited by Vistasource, who did a GTK variant, and a application server, but it wasn't a real upgrade path for most Applixware users.
The "classical" Applixware that I am talking about has it's own widget set, and runs on legacy or low ressource hardware. ex. 11mb to start, and 2-3 Mb per app (TT, Spreadsheet etc)
compare that to OpenOffice ressource requirements !
Check http://www.vistasource.com, or send a mail to sales@vistasource.com and ask them about the 4.4.x versions.
The last version for Linux was version 4.4.2.
the whole point is to subsidise US companies,(MS, BOING etc) and thus the US economy, through
taxpayers money.
This is the reason why US "defense" spending is so high.
And then, when you have all these toys to play with, you have to give them a playing field...or two...

As long as they are going to steal it, we want them to steal ours. They'll get sort of addicted, and then we'll somehow figure out how to collect sometime in the next decade.

Hmm...
I think that the French don't need to fly American,
seems like a good thing for Airbus that US firms didn't appeared at Le Bourget this year:

plus, freedom ringing in the US has an awfully dead tone to it...
slashdot is just a collection of musings, it has no political direction at all.
So Iraq gets electricity in 2031 ?
wrong.
it would be:
Pierre, merci de m'envoyer les rapports de ventes par courriel.
*Hey!* is only used by US soldiers firing on civilians...

Yes, Applixware is being used for this on ....
Linux, Windows, AIX, Sun Solaris, IRIX, HPUX, DEC,
scince 1983 and still going strong.
A new version is being released this year,
*not* the GTK version but the classical one.
It features new RealTime engines for Reuters RMDS and Tibco Rendezvous, these are for financial data feeds on the trade floor.
do you mean GNU/MS/SCO/IBM/etc/Linux ??
I'm always amazed watching the security people
chat while not looking at the monitors as my
baggage goes through.
Super-Duper machines don't do it all alone...

perhaps patriot2 will include something like this for you...
take out cnn.com, foxnews.com,...
You are confusing a person's ability to pay for food with a nation's ability to provide it in the first place.
Hmm... you mean like just before the French revolution ?
the difference means squat to the guy with an empty stomach.
...consistently been able to feed its population...
um...do you have your head in the sand ?
yes, free trade is only good when it's in the interest of the US.
why didn't I think of this ?
I guess soon we will see import restrictions for Airbus, because of course they too are doing it cheaper, faster, better.
when the US doesn't dominate in any domaine, they scream "mommy" and run for their guns or politicians.
yuk.

agreed, I find Air France to be the best deal here.
you haven't twigged it yet ?
the game is to use linux as a threat to get large discounts from microsoft.
seems like you have never had them toasted
in front of an open fire and then buttered...
mmmmm...
In terms of military spending the US is so far ahead of anybody else
simply because they find it impossible to have peacefull relations with everyone else.
your taxpayers money goes into supporting Boeing
and friends (ex. recent aircraft "sales" to poland,
and poland's recent "economic aid package")
IMHO a lot of countries would rather see the US using their taxpayers money for peacefull uses.
it's already the case:
U.S. 'negation' policy in space raises concerns abroad
that's great !
it will be much easier to find out which
rambo shot the allies, specially as there
are more of them shot than enemies...
North American side ?
you mean the dark side of the earth ?
with excuses to Pink Floyd...
I can't understand why you accept this.

some don't:

I'm suprised you don't have this already,
France does:
