This is what make racing good for the automotive industry. I believe turbo chargers were once banned in F1. The result was fuel injection. Traction control, antilock breaks and countless others owe their starts to racing.
There is no doubt that many F1 drivers are somewhat self-centred. The same can be said for fighter pilots. Someone who has the courage and confidense to do those things (like driving a car around a hair pin corner at over 80km/h) is bound to have an ego.
Exactly who is the thief? There is certainly stealing being done on both sides of this argument. What really frustrates me is that when I by blank CDs I'm aready considered a thief by having pay a levy. I haven't bought music CDs in years. I don't download music. Yet, I'm still considered a thief.
If you make up answers you will continue to get "dim or uninterested" people that you need to help. Offering them useful accurate information, even if they do not understand it now, could prevent you from repeating yourself later on.
Don't complain about a bad users if you are not trying help them fix their future problems.
I shudder to even think of leaving my dark, empty pop bottle and pizza box filled basement. I certainly don't want to go outside? Scary. I may even get exercise. That's way too much work.
I believe it was Einstein who said "I don't know what weapons world war three will be fought with but, world war four will be fought with sticks and stones."
It pains me to admit this. There will never be smooth 100% file sharing between OpenOffice and MS Office. Microsoft will see to that as they continuously change and obfuscate their file formats to protect their market share.
The original poster has valid point. If you are installing Gentoo on the underwear covered machine at foot of your bed than the current install procedure is fine. You have the time to spare. For production, one does not have the time to duplicate the tedious steps of the Gentoo install procedure for every machine.
Yes, but will you still be playing with your GameCube 5 years from now? How about 10 years from now? I used my original AD&D books for 15 years. That's a pretty good investment.
I've often found it odd that "gamers" are perceived as people who lack social skills. What is more social than a group of friends coming together and talking with each other? How is that less social than say going to a bar to scream and grunt at a big screen TV?

D&D, Harry Potter, or particle physics; it's all the same to people like that. If they don't understand it and can't find a reference in the bible then it must be evil. Try to give them the facts and they just run screaming from the room.
I partially agree with you. I would say that one should replace the word "stress" with "fear". When you are afraid of something, you need to create a plan of action that will squash that fear. Afraid you won't finish your project on time. Work some overtime to get ahead or, ask for more resources. Now, you have taken steps to help complete your project and feel less afraid that you will fail.
Recognising your fears and overcoming them; that is true growth.
If you think your job is stressful, I think you need to talk more with people in other fields. Before I started working in IT, I worked in the automotive manufacturing sector. There was no comparison. For me IT is less stressful.
If you have troubles in automotive, your can stop thousands of people from working. "Sorry, little Jane, you can't have that dolly for Christmas. Mommy's line was shutdown to many times this year." Then your customer, the car manufacturer, will charge your company tens of thousands of dollars for each hour its assembly line is down. Don't think you should pay that charge? No problem, your customer will just deduct it off of your invoice to them.

After constant use of image blocking in Mozilla I hardly ever see ads.

Perhaps the author is confusing the word invent with patent?
The sum of the intelligence of the human race is a constant. The population is growing.
I don't know what I find more disturbing. The fact that such a "language" exists or the fact that I understand it.
The minute you tell me I have to learn something and, give a deadline; it becomes a chore.
I can recall this idea appearing back in the 70's. Like most ideas that challenge big oil it mysteriously disappeared

In an ideal world the solution is give google (or any good search engine) the ability to search the catalogs and online books of all libraries.
The Google IPO has been so hyped that I think the shares will be priced so high at the beginning that they will have no place to go but down.

That was probably one of the things that lead to WP's financial woes. As the users became less savvy, there were more and more support calls.
If PHP installs by default with register_globals = off and developers turn them on can we really blame PHP?

She was probably jealous of the attention you lavish on it instead of her.

As a hard headed slashdotter it pains me to admit that your idea sounds like Windows XP and it has merit. I'm sure you'll be modded down for that:)
