Thats just MSRP. If you look around you can take an invoice to the dealer and hassle them to get your price at or below invoice *with* goodies like an extra horn, an integrated bell, and leather seats.
I *have* a laptop mouse and use a T40 thinkpad. Unfortunately, being old, one of the USB ports is, at best, iffy. So I have one, and use it for...my mouse!
I love the trackpoint if im somewhere and really cant spare the space, but having to use it briefly to give up my mouse is a hassle. 2 usb ports should be the minimum, as well as an ethernet jack.
Id *like* a new notebook, but Im broke. this *looks* nice, but i agree, with one usb port id find it mostly a hassle. if i want a small, gimped notebook, ill take the Eee. if i want to spend this kind of money on a notebook, ill take something slightly larger with features i like.
its apple. its expensive. its pretty. yay.
Or in law enforcement. I know a guy who worked with the local sheriff department for a few months and quit because the hours drove him nuts. 12 on, 12 off, then after a few days youd switch shifts. Meh.
A lot of people, it seems, would just as soon buy a new car than a better used car of equivalent value. Granted, you dont find new cars *now* for under 9 grand, but most people are going to finance at that point anyway, and only pay attention to the monthly payment (ask any car dealer how important finding out the max monthly payment is per customer)
Hell, my ex bought an Aveo for $13k. Honestly...nevermind that she could have had a hyundai with 100,000 mile warranty, that was roomier, but she could have bought a used honda or toyota that would be far more reliable over time, or as you mention, a used luxury car (my brother spent $6500 on a used el dorado and its a *great* car, and far better than the shitty Aveo my ex purchased at twice the price)
Certainly, if it were my 9 thousand dollars and a choice between an import indian car made to be cheap, or a used cadillac or quality import...id buy used in a heartbeat.
That doesn't mean, though, that I disagree with you in spirit. I'm concerned that 'sex offender' is too broad of term for this to really apply. I heard a story about a guy who was 19 and had sex with his 17 year old girlfriend.
I went to school with a guy in a similar situation, except this girl got pregnant. Hes married, a nice, clean guy with no other criminal history, but is a sex offender for life because of the age difference that got him a statutory rape conviction.
Granted, its a stupid mistake, but in some cases there's no way it warrants the punishments prescribed.
If it wont damage 2 sheets of drywall, it may not be worth a damn. Check out Box #3

After testing rounds theres some talk of birdshot, that wont penetrate 2 sheets of sheetrock...and a tale that follows about someone shot by birdshot, and it didnt stop him, which is a pretty important thing to keep in mind if youre going to shoot someone and dont want them to hurt you.
Be nice. I started to read slashdot as a newbie to the tech world and have gleaned a great deal of information from people who, instead of using acronyms and slang, speak clearly or spell out what they mean.
ignorance is required for a lot of people to stay in business. with knowhow and a few tools you can:
be an electrician, plumber, phone guy, cable guy, pc tech, network guy, carpenter, mechanic...
its probably a long list. the business model is more like "nobody will pay 600 bucks for that tv...that cost us 470 bucks. so lets charge them $499 and make the rest up in accessories they HAVE to have, so it all costs the same, and they dont feel raped about the tv, and we can make a living"
people are cheap. mind numbingly cheap. even rich people can be cheap. if a business could get the electronics sold with a 10 or 15 percent profit the cable prices might be reasonable, but since people barely want to pay, this is what happens.
im not arguing it on either side. everyone wants to pay as little as they can for something, and everyone wants to make *as much* as they can doing whatever they do for a living. thats what i want.
people are cheap, and greedy. you go try to sell electronics in a market where you can get tv's and stereos and laptops at a dozen different places in a single town and see if you 3 dollar cables attract people to pay the extra 25 bucks for your tv so you can still make your profit, and feel good about yourself.
it wont happen. advertising rock-bottom prices on cables isnt going to get you customers, advertising it on a 36" LCD will.
i enjoyed the movies, and while i love the books, i dont get nitpicky over the changes to the story for the most part, and just try to enjoy it. but i dont think hes a perfect director. however, since hes done 3 of them already, id rather he continued to do them to keep a similar look and feel to the movies.
the books will always be better, the movies are for entertainment.
things like this make me wonder if ill ever be able to make enough money to move out of this country...and then i wonder where the hell is worth moving to these days? where *arent* rights being eroded in a disgusting fashion?
Getting money for war is easy; getting it for science, education and healthcare....that's like work.
Ok, but can you be quick about it?
we don't talk like that around here, you get the fuck out NOW

My grandfather always told me to get a white car: "you dont notice as soon if it hasnt been washed" he told me.
sounds that way....so theyre finally putting the *nix underneath to use, huh? ;)

Not me dude:
Two chicks at the same time, man.
Which hair?
Well now *I* don't trust you!
they misspelled grep-ing :-/

Nah, theyre the people we should be listening to when they say something lacks it: they clearly have experience in that area.

Just out of curiosity: Did you pay the better workers a better wage based not on education but on performance?

only the technically inclined would be likely to do that...
so he's just a grammar socialist then?
*waves hand in front of you* this is not the capabilities you are looking for.
