I think it's quite a waste of time to argue with someone who so clearly admits that he has no idea what he is talking about. Let the market decide, I'm pretty sure that the A380 will be a success (as will be the 747-8).
So, just because Boeing has conceded that the aircraft is minimal it has to be the truth? There is no chance they are only saying this because they don't have one? Do you actually realize that everything you say about the A380 was said about the 747 in it's early day? Everybody said too big, too much hassle at the airports, the danger when two collide, Boeing will never get it's money back, much less get a return on invest etc. etc. And look how far the 747 came. How on earth can you, most likely not in the business, not employed at airbus, with no real insights in the market, know that this plane will not make money for airbus? That's a bold statement. Again remember: The 747 was late, the development much more expensive that planned and was suffering from major problems in the first years (mainly the inadequate engines). It still became a stunning success.
Sorry to be rude, but that's bullshit: There is a large number of female pilots, even more first officers of that gender. Additionally: "They have decades of experience before even being considered..."? What? It takes two years to get from never been on an aircraft to be a first officer, if you're good you can make pilot in three more years, 6-7 should be average and if you need more then 10 you're in the wrong profession (or work at a very small airline)!
You know, it's a job. You can learn it. It's not some arcane art that only half-gods can master (even if most pilots want you to believe that...).
No, we don't "all know the link between mobile phones and cancer (despite what the telcos say). There's also a suspected link between mains electricity (and it's associated fields) and cancer", even if you say so.
And to qoute from the article you linked:
Exactly how cancer could be caused by such exposure remains a mystery, however. The strength of the magnetic fields falls away rapidly from overhead power lines - just a few dozen yards from a pylon registers well below the natural magnetic field level of the Earth. Studies of living cells and animals exposed to such weak fields have hitherto failed to reveal any changes normally linked to cancer.
Before I run to my mommy and cry because you called me "dumbass", let me quote you:
"It was designed to only ever be used for graphics, and it cannot be used for anything else"
Which is a statement as wrong as it can get. Maybe it's not a good idea, maybe there are better ways to achieve what these guys are doing, but that doesn't change the fact that your point ist plain and simple wrong. You know, smarter people then you were wrong when uttering such statements, better be careful...
"Seriously though, IKEA is a store full of very interesting, but not entirely useful gadgets." Interesting but not entirely useful gadgets like, hmmmmm, beds, tables, chairs, couches, wardrobes, cupboards, kitchens, plates, forks, pots and pans, curtains, mirrors, carpets...?:)
Well, it's not the first laptop with a sparc processor or the first to be running Solaris. But it sure is the first FROM SUN. And that's waht the article said. The Sparcbook was made by Tadpole. BTW, these guys are still alive and kicking, check out the Bullfrog, old man!:)
OK, will the morons who voted this interesting please stand up so we can all have good laugh?
Or maybe you're right: It is kind of interesting what bullshit some people either make up or really believe.
Anyway, parent is a total moron...
Well, the first worm of all times come to mind, the on robert t. morris released in 87/88(?). That one exploited holes in sendmail, fingerd and some other services I don't recall.
There where a lot of theses in the years after that.
So yes, Unix sure had a problem with worms.
That's funny, I studied political science:)
And from that point of view, I think it's pretty safe to say that a system with two parties has far more problems and disadvantages the a system with more parties. Of course too much parties is another problem. I'd say that everything between 3 and 5, maybe 6 parties is rather "safe". By the way: 2 parties is much better then 10. I give you that any day.
I think the germans are handling it pretty well: two major parties and up to 3 (depends on which level) smaller parties. Works really well, gives stables majorities in most cases.
But you do realize that most democracies have no problem with more than two parties? And wait, a smaller party working together with a bigger one so that they have a majority, where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, it's called a coaltion and it's absolutely normal in most democracies.
if you don't read the article then at least read the fucking summary: It says the maximum fine ca be as high as 500000 US$. It has nothing to do with the amount of fines in the booby case.
Yeah, sure. Just go to the Dell site and check the section for large business and corporations and start looking for "DOS Installation" as OS. For example all (or most, to lazy to look) of the OptiPlex Systems are available with said option, some of them are only available that way.
Disclaimer: All of this is true for the european union, if you're from some other neck of the woods ymmv but I'm sure if you talk to your br he's going to make you a deal.
I can (and in fact already have) order systems from dell and various other tier1 suppliers without any OS and preloaded with Linux. Dell even offers a whole bunch services to get you switched to Linux. That is mostly true for servers, but if you're a business customer you can order desktops without an OS just fine, too.
So, please tell me again why Dell is in any risk to go belly up just because a new processor is shipped? You still need somebody who assembles your boxes, ships them and provides you with some kind of warranty and support.
Since lots of the large customers of Dell (and any other tier1 supplier) have contracts with their suppliers (and most large corporations move rather slowly) I don't think much will change.
Besides, I'm pretty sure that Michael has no problems selling everybody brand new PCs and Servers with that revolutinary cell thingy inside.:)
... a really intelligent Design?

Which is exactly the same everybody and his mom said when fly-by-wire was new...
And to qoute from the article you linked:
That sounds really convincing...

Better hurry and tell these guys: http://www.gpgpu.org/

it will soon :)
Those morons who bought google during the IPO. They multiplied their money. We should truly feel sorry for them... :)
Baceteria can survive and grow if the right conditions are available. News at 11.
You do realize that people are saying this since the first plane that could carry 2 people instead of one?
This is SO ripped of from Neal Stephensons Snowcrash... They just have to attach lots of floating junk and watch out for the aleut...

And what should stop Dell et al from producing and selling PCs with a cell processor?
They're replacing large parts of the roof with a transparent material so the atmosphere should be better soon.
