It's not just about "doing business" during a movie either. Nor is it just about the biiig screen and THX sound. It's the leg room. It's the cuddling with a loved one, or pet as the case may be. It's the 75 cents for popcorn and koolaid vs $8 for popcorn and ice(soda if you're lucky).

And, for some weird reason, most people at the movie theater don't like it when I bring my bong.

I've been working at a weather firm for 2 years now and I've been wondering if the theory and calculation approach is the best one. Given the computational problems mentioned above, and the structure of WMO GRIB data, wouldn't a feed forward neural network that was trained for, say, 4 years ultimately work better than the highly complex calculations(Ordinary diff eqs) that, I presume, are used in the ETA, AVN, MRF, etc.

IANAMeteorologist, and I don't really understand how the models work(hey I just work here), but this is a thought I had once while trying to figure out how to write "my own" weather model.

Some people are so bad at using computers, that when they read /. with moderation points using Newest First to sort comment threads, they don't realise that a comment they see farther down the page that's similar to one they've modded up earlier in the page was in fact posted earlier than the one they modded up. To cover up their ignorance, they mod the earlier posts as redundant.

Here's one such example. I was the first to bring up that LANL was using the cutesy Shuttle cases, so I brought it up early in a blantant karma whoring attempt. It back fired due to moderator error of modding me redundant, when in fact, I was first. Oh well. Anyone who sucks so bad in life as to actually have mod points gets my pity. They probably couldn't speak their mind if their life depended on it. At least I get paid to surf /.
