âoePrior to IBM's involvement, Linux was the software equivalent of a bicycle. UNIX was the software equivalent of a luxury car. To make Linux of necessary quality for use by enterprise customers, it must be re-designed so that Linux also becomes the software equivalent of a luxury car. This re-design is not technologically feasible or even possible at the enterprise level without (1) a high degree of design coordination, (2) access to expensive and sophisticated design and testing equipment; (3) access to UNIX code, methods and concepts; (4) UNIX architectural experience; and (5) a very significant financial investment.â (Paragraph 84) 80 LINES of code !

âoeThe only way that the pathway is an âeight-lane highwayâ(TM) for Linux to achieve the scalability, SMP support, fail-over capabilities and reliability of UNIX is by the improper extraction, use, and dissemination of the proprietary and confidential UNIX Software Code and libraries. PHP is more and more oriented toward expert coders, giving them more and more OO stuff. That trend is, i think, terribly wrong. Php didnt get its success from expert coders, but from novices one, not knowing ANYTHING about oo.
There is ton of stuff to do, and really more interesting stuff. For example : a true translation system to develop multi-language sites, an abstraction layer for SQL (no not a 50k external.php you have to include), to make all functions working on all OS (for example flock() dont work on Windows, even if its not so much work to reimplement it on this system) and so on.
So there is ton of features that could make PHP a true killer, so why working on expert-only stuff ?

Windows 2000 :
"Get out of DLL Hell for good. The Windows® 2000 Professional operating system has a feature to meet, greet, and exorcise applications that mess with your Dynamic-Link Library (DLL) and executable files: Windows File Protection. This feature saves you from unsightly operating system and application mismatches."

Windows XP:
"One source of frustration for me is applications that share code. No doubt you've run in to the scenario where two applications share the same DLL but require two different versions of it. The result is usually fatal. Windows XP fixes this problem via side-by-side component sharing. The gist of this technology is to allow multiple versions of a component to run in memory at the same time. Each program gets to use its own version of the DLL."

Mozilla people are dropping MNG, the difference is that MNG is not part of W3C recommandation.

Is it possible that these 80 lines are same but not done by same author, nor ripped ?
I mean, there are probably some parts of code that don't have millions versions possible, and could be coded exactly the same by differents coders.
So, do you mean Doom III will only work on xbox linux ? :-)
