    Microsoft does this to every business partner. They always have. If Nokia was fool enough to trust Microsoft, there will be no tears shed. The more reasonable answer is Nokia officers dropped the ball and got paid well for dancing with the Microsoft. The "only" losers were the employees and their stockholders.

    This is extremely simple and easy to do.... This is insane that this conversation is happening..... We have the number of registered voters.... issue that many numbers and randomize the list.... When a voter comes in to vote either E-voting or hand voting, issue them a ballot with a random number in the list(randomized list) They remain anonymous if they use a library pc, Mcdonalds internet, work internet, terminals in the voting booth via paper or electronic. Then post every ballot online in a data base. The voter can compare their vote to the online number associated with their ballot to make sure it was not changed.

Remove China's accepted os and all buy win7 phones with a 1 gig data limit.

    Keep the free cdrom thing, add some flyers for Open Source companies or others who would pay for the advertising.(Windows emulators?) Then Sell an upgraded USB drive that looks like a Penquin for 5$ plus 10 dollars shipping and handling. Offer a support contract accessible from a shortcut on the desktop, and Bing! you have a profit from the loss! No one will want the free cdrom if they could have a penquin USB drive! Bait and Switch!

    How does this fit? So you stole a car(windows OS) and that car has lots of holes in it that let rain and mud seep into the engine and transmission(virus and spy-ware) and then you want to install the duct tape(generic quality) on the holes(some of them) using the assistance of the person you stole the car from(MS) then you get angry when the duct tape won't stick on the holes? I would have to say either buy a sporty new car that is free of the holes(Mac) or take a free one that may not have a shiny coat(Linux) jeep style and live on.

    Sure, its possible that: A: NASA made a huge mistake and for some reason the scientists gave them a petrified tree... B: Someone risked jailtime to steal a moon rock just before it was given as a gift C: They switched the rock and no one looked at the origional photographs of the presentation of the moon rock during the insurance evaluation to see if it was still the real rock. After all Insurance companies aren't skeptical? D: They really do think it was stolen with a replacement and don't feel like filing the papers with the insurance company to get their money back... Hmmmmm, Yeah that makes sense in crazy world....

They just might have the reflex action to click on the preloaded Firefox icon on the new dell that just replaced their virus infected windows dorkbox they bought after ignoring their childs plea to buy a Mac instead.

    After I dropped my Ipod in a vat of acid, kicked it, let my brother in law borrow it, washed it down with an ultrasonic cleaning dip it seemed to work fine, but then I plugged it into a Windows Vista laptop.... :( I had to reset the ipod after that.... Still Re-Imaging the vista box though. only 1500 security patches left to go...

    Any payment to OS developers will come directly from advertising agencies who have broken the mold and find a way to sell product placement adds within the OS video game. Just as PS3 connects to the internet and Google drops adds to your browser, OS developers are likely going to be paid on a contract basis or as a contract company to improve game play on an open source platform. That way they could drop hooks to download live adds directly to the video game? They just need someone to tell them how.

    So 96 people, some in the US and some in the UK accessed unsecured wireless for an indeterminable amount of time from an unnamed source. New study just out! 100% of landline phone customers have service with companies that allow random strangers to access their phone records! How many of the 12% accessed the service accidentally? At coffee shops? Mcdonalds? Nice contrite study results. Not much reference data... 800? How many in the US?.. Plus if they were random, how many were on the no call list?

    Wow, apparently you don't realize that most "Hick" farmers have satellite guided application equipment and harvesting equipment along with years of experience knowing when how where and what to plant and how to use and maintain their cheap equipment. They also have to sift through the government regulations interpret future regulation changes. So I guess they are only computer integrated accountants with down to earth knowledge, probably the dumb "hicks" rely on the seed company to calculate their loan payments as well. You should probably stick to trying to impress people because you know how to install Ubuntu.

    Compliance? They will likely just buy the EU, sell off its parts, then retain the legal entity they owe the money too, and write it off their tax bill. That way they don't have to change strategy. The interesting part is that once they buy the EU they will make sure it is no longer compatible with other countries that don't use their media player. Tourists will have to break a plastic tape with a Eula to enter the country.

Then we could send their pictures of us to them from someone else with a note about us not liking them.

    We need a new system Take a data base with the a set of numbers "The number of people voting" 00001 00002 00003 When a person votes, Print a random selection of the numbers to go along with their vote. Sheet of paper with 00003 on it, on Certified "I voted" paper. Publish the voting results and tie the individual votes to the number given out. Security Integrity and The only way to go.

    Dell should be scared to sell any version of Linux in a business environment. They would only sell one computer every 5-6 years. Home users will want to upgrade more frequently or whenever they have the disposable income to do so. Selling a computer that is Linux certified to work with all the hardware right out of the box would be suicide for a computer manufacturer who had a large group of Microfites who purchase computers every two years because of virus, corruption, accumulated slowness. Selling a Linux computer to a Business, would a. provide a really cheap server capable computer b. provide a computer that will not be subject to the Windows upgrade taxes. c. a computer that could be reloaded easily and avoid many of the Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and thus sell fewer computers in the long run? Their Hypocrisy will only go so far..
