"We are not trying to stop people from expressing themselves," he said. "We say you should do what we do[...]"
He is saying that pr0n is bad, but then to do what they do. What does RIAA does? f**k artists and poor college students? I like that. Less pr0n, but more sex! yay!
Microsoft prefers competition between software applications to be determined in the free markets rather than by government agencies. "Governments should not be in the position to decide who the winners are," Robertson said.
Consindering that MS has more money than most goverments in the world it sounds more like 'let us decide for everyone'.
Bioware does a surprisingly good job in their forums. Yes, way too many people post there. Yes, people don't use the appropiate threads to handle the proper issues. Yes, a lot of fanboys saying things that are not relevant at all for the developer or the gaming comunity. But, somehow, the moderators are able to post frequently, talking about the issues. In fact, when NWN came out the toolset had a lot of bugs, and the forum became a very powerful tool to help handle those. Were the moderators bitching about people complaining about bugs? No, they just started threads to acknoledge those things AND updated with comments frequently.
Forums in general ARE harsh. That is why the moderator is there, to try to focus the forum into something positive for the community.
Transistors might be based in quantum mechanical effects, but are not purely QM devices, but more like pseudoclassical devices. This means that you can describe a lot of it using classical physics and a few quantum mechanical approximations. Moore's Law is a rule of thumb for transistor size. Our current computational technologies are based on a transistor-like gate. We get into a new computing paradigm.
Transistor based machines (and even tube based computers, yes, the old dinosaurs) can be modeled by a Deterministic Turing Machine. We program our computers based on the mathematical idea that they are DTMs. As soon as you get a quantum computer, this is no longer true. Programming, as we know it, doesn't apply. Whole new concepts have to be introduced, and a lot of the things taught in current CS/EE/CE programs will not be accurate for this new technologies. This is not speculation, this is based on the mathematical theorems of the different computational complexities of the different technologies.
So, by the Death of Moores law it is meant the death of the rate of improvement of the computing technologies based on the transistor. It doesn't rule out the possibility of a new paradigm, but then, when that comes, i guess someone else might try to come up with their own rule of thumb.
I use a non-MSN IM client, and I've been getting messages at logon from MSN that I have to upgrade my IM software for security reasons. In my client I can't seem to be able to block those system messages. Has anyone else had this problem during the last few days? I really feel MSN is sending unwanted messages (spam) to force me to use their client.
The confusing thing about PCs is just that you go to the store, and there
is just so many games... everywhere you look! While on the Mac, its just six.
And you know which ones are good, 'cause you have already played them on the PC
like five or six years ago.
I have a lot of geek friends that have been switching to Apples since OSX came out. They are very good computers, but it is weird to see the geeks and the hip stereotypes converging like this. Has anyone else observed this biblical effect?
Gen 3:1Now the Apple was more subtil than any beast of the field which the God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every computer of the garden?
Gen 3:6And when the linux geek saw that the G5 good for Unix, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one hip, took of the Apple thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto the other geeks; and they did eat.
Gen 3:7And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they weren't using Open Source; and they compiled aprons something using gpp.
Gen 3:13 And the LinusGod said unto the geek, What is this that thou hast done? And the linux geek said, The Apples are so sexy, they beguiled me, and I did eat.
Simmons: Lepricon?
Griff: Hey, he doesn't need your help!
Sergeant: Phoenix!... Hey Simmons, what is the name of that mexican lizard, that eats all the goats?
Simmons: Ehm, that would be the Chupa-cabras, sir.
Sergeant: Hey Griff! Chupa-thingy, how 'bout that? I like it, got a ring to it...

Simmons: Why Warthog, sir?
Griff: I think it looks more like a puma...
Sergeant: What in saint hell is a puma?
Simmons: Ah.... you mean like the shoe company?
Griff: No! Like a puma, it's a big cat, like a lion.
Sergeant: You're making that up.
Griff: I'm telling you, it is a real animal!
Sergeant: Simmons, I want you to poison Griff's next meal.
Simmons: YES SIR!

Why do I have to prove that I own my music? It is their responsability to prove that I don't own it. WTF?

* Universe reemerges even more weird than before.*
Why is
Esquilax. As you will recall, an Esquilax is a legendary horse, with the head of a rabbit, and the body of a rabbit.
