    Before buyng which Linux or the Wi-Fi card? I would suggest not using Linux for the desktop. It's great for servers, but it's not user nice.

    I have bash on my FreeBSD installs. vim is in the ports collection. So it doesn't install everything by default. That's a good thing isn't it?

    Happy user of FreeBSD, Slackware, Solaris 10 and OSX. I still have Windows 2000 Server to remind me why I use the others.

    huh? * 1.8Ghz/256Mb/40Gig * Not enough power? Maybe if your a gamer. I run all sorts of apps on my 500Mz desktop running Slackware 10 & KDE 3.x.x.

    This little laptop should be a screamer for what most people do with laptops (business apps, web surfing, and email).

    Sure, I was just about to buy the Linespire laptop and this news breaks. Now I have to decide which is better.

    Define 'Better':
    Hardware specs: Looks like the Linare laptop has better hardware.
    OS: To me the Linspire OS is better and has many more apps ready to go.

    Does Linspire run on the Linare laptop? That would be a good match? The worst case is I buy the Linare laptop. If Linare sucks then I can install another Linux of my choosing. At least the hardware is good.

    Back in 1992 I wrote a flash card program for a girlfriends daughter. I used a non-M$ BASIC language that has a compiler (ASIC I think).

    I still have the program and source code if we need to show prior art to the id10ts at the USPTO. The program worked by displaying the letter or number (real big) the kid press on the keyboard. It also had basic shapes and colors (i.e. red triagle blue square, yellow circle etc.) It was interactive with he kid and parent.

    I hearby patent cows farting. Every farmer that has a cow that farts must pay me a penny for every fart.

    Not racist at all. I said American Citizen. It does not matter to me what country they may have been from in the past. If they are now a citizen then I'll consider hiring them. There is no race requirement to be a U.S. Citizen.

    I for one am using my IT and business skills to start my own company. I'd rather trust myself for my future employment.

    Also, I don't want to be a programmer in five years. I've coded enough since 1996 and I'm sick of it. Time to move on. Owning my own company is the logical route for myself. I've witnessed enough dot bomb companies from the inside to know how not to run a business.

    As I start to hire the people I need, I will make sure to hire American Citizens in the U.S.A.

    More of us IT people that have business skills should do the same. More small companies that hire local employees helps the economy faster and better than stopping a few large companies from sending jobs overseas.

    Take control of your future and act!
