I just wish there'd be more of a focus on extending ADSL coverage across Australia. I mean seriously, how much longer must we be on prehistoric RIMs and the like?
IP Law gives them the right to sue for people illegally using/gaining access to the material.
Sure, there's only so much they can do to protect their IP, but why shouldn't corporations have the right to sue the shit out of people stealing their R&D?
International law is very different from other areas of law. It's all about trying to get a common code for countries to agree with. And from the International Law way of thinking, it's better to have more countries sign the treaty, then to miss out on the US, why not modify it?
What's so wrong about a registrar being in it for profit?
As long as we have someone to bitch to when it fails, and something is done.
If the not-for-profit organisations such as ICANN and friends actually worked, your point might be taken with more than a grain of salt. But as it is, the commercial registrars at least do what they have to (in order to keep their profit).
You're not thinking this through. It's ensuring that the government isn't accused of restricting civil liberties such as the right to critise government, which is deemed to be a necessary part of the democracy in which we live.
Get over it, it's only because there are certain people too eager to jump on politicians over civil rights issues.
You can never trust what you're connecting to... It's the age old problem, you're asking for anything you get without performing proper encryption between both links.
Seriously, the only time this problem is going to be fixed is when it's EASY to perform encryption. Where's the easy support for GPG in email clients? SSL in web browsers was certainly a step in the right direction, but what about IM services, email, ftp? Most hosting companies (afaik) don't provide for secure ftp...
It doesn't matter necessarily that the office workstatations are NAT'ed. Just firewall that subnet from the outside world. They can still have their own public IP, but still have restricted incoming connections set by the border router...

How do you mean? Last I saw, the dev version had the features, but stable was still very much minimal?
Yeah, but surely ICANN should/would be interested if MelbourneIT are not interested in at least attempting to resolve the conflict? Given that they transferred the domain in the first place...
Okay that finally wasn't too final -- here's a few more things: don't deal with resellers. Go straight to a registrar and make sure they are ICANN accredited (not selling for someone else who is). Deal with a company with a good reputation.
Can anyone comment how much more protection this gives from domain transfers? If you have the domain locked, isn't that enough protection in itself?
As an Aussie, I don't think I'll ever deal with Melbourne IT after hearing this. Their ridiculous high prices are meant to include top support... Seems they're letting everyone down.
Anyone know if they could stand to lose their registrar license? I mean, you can't just pass fraudulent transfers like that....
Few people are using the "official" kernel these days anyway.
Can you clarify that anywhere? I've always used the vanilla sources, (personally can't stand vendor kernels - unable to patch them easily, etc)... I think you may find a lot more people than you realise use the vanilla kernel.
But what happens when you're in the middle of a tech support call and you slap your hand on your head....? Does the phone know to hang up at this point?
But not a condition of sale, and they won't let you return the software, thus, the EULA is not a legal contract.
I'd be very careful with that wording. I think you'll find the clause revoking the right to return the software will be found illegal, but the rest of the EULA will still stand.
"Do you have any suggestions for a passworld vault?" ... hehe, sorry, I have to bite, MS Passport? :P

Nah, Microsoft is smarter than that.
:P
They've got Gentoo linked as the first distro listed under the search for Linux. I mean if you want to turn people away, start with Gentoo.
For the few searches I've used MSN for, it seems to have better results than Google.
Anyone else noticing this?

I would really like a way of just downloading the entire video. No streaming, just give me a way of downloading the entire video *please*!

Oh god no.
I've have enough problems with Canon and their useless support, not to mention Windows-only crap.
Try Brother. We've got 3 Brother mono lasers, damn cheap, and they're lasting FOREVER. Work with cups, and are a dream.
Cheers.
Seriously, don't forget last time, NEVER CALL when he's riding the kangaroo around his backyard.

Yeah, but Melbourne IT could do themselves a huge favour and release some details and help Panix out. It's called Goodwill.
Appears MelbourneIT's story only gets worse...

Perhaps you might like to check their site before you make such comments. They have 24/7 support.

Look into Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome and what you can do to fix it =)

Second poster "he he...no, it's working...but the report only consists of the two words 'Service Unavailable', which sums up the problem"
First microsoft guy i've ever "met" that hasn't used a tonne of buzzwords and actually makes sense
