    from BP and the environment

BP New Zealand, along with the BP Group world-wide, is committed to three simple but important goals - no accidents, no harm to people and no damage to the environment.

    Our Commitment
Wherever BP has control or influence, it will: Consult, listen and respond openly to customers, neighbours and public interest groups. Work with others - partners, suppliers, competitors and regulators - to raise the standards of the industry.

Openly report the company's health, safety and environment (HSE) performance, good and bad. Recognise those who contribute to improved HSE performance.

BP has a strong commitment to minimise the environmental impact of its activities in areas such as emissions, wastes and energy use and to maintain an active dialogue with communities - locally and nationally - on environmental issues.

It has a well-established safety management and assessment system designed to improve safety performance. Likewise, health promotion programmes have been introduced to complement well-established occupational health practices.

As part of the commitment to high HSE standards, BP continually assesses whether products can be stored, handled, transported and used safely and with minimal environmental impact.

    Environmental Initiatives
BP operates 15 service stations with solar canopies throughout New Zealand. This is part of BP's global initiative to 'Plug in the Sun'. BP now has almost 400 service stations with solar canopies around the world.

    Triple Bottom Line
As part of our commitment to environmental and social responsibility, BP produces an annual Triple Bottom Line report.

As for the first, I don't think P2P was made for the kind of streaming that stations do.
Why is that? P2P TV such as Sopcast works just fine of video feeds....if you have a good connection.

Although, I reckon if anything kills internet TV and radio, it will be ISP's (poorly implemented) traffic shaping systems. Ever since my ISP increased the bandwidth to 3mbit/s, but introduced traffic shaping, the performance of even low bitrate streaming media has turned to crap. It's because every packet gets inspected (apparently) which causes all kinds of lag. Speed tests show I'm getting the full download speed at most times.

Ah a fellow NZer. Yeah tell me about it. I find it's the same for music gear too. I recently bought our first game console for the family. I would have been open to any brand but Sony appears to be a terrible technology bully forcing propriety solutions onto the market and then fleecing it's customers as long as they can. To me Sony as a publisher is one one the most active DRM fanatics whipping their customers into shape.

Basically, Sony is not a brand that I associate with fun and entertainment but with litigation and bullying it is that simple. We are due for a new TV and sound system. Sony products will simply not be considered regardless of how good or cheap they are.
So from that logic, it's clear that you didn't buy the Microsoft console either. So what did you end up with? An Atari 2600? ;-)

Uhhh... actually the Bible in Genesis (and other numerous places) says that all creation was made in 6 days, not 7. It also defines each day during creation ending with evening followed by morning just to be clear.

e.g. Then God said, ''Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.'' And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the third day.

While the EULA discussion is valid, I think there is way more to the actual case than this - I can't see a corporation willing to go to court for a PC that was allegedly defective right out of the box. I bought a Gateway laptop in 2005 that developed a cracked hinge almost two years after I bought it (without the extended warranty), and when I contacted Gateway to have them repair it, fully expecting to pay, they informed me that there was a design flaw and cheerfully fixed it for free in less than two weeks - even paying the shipping. That was "above and beyond" service.
Not really. They simply did what they were morally (and perhaps legally) obliged to do. They were doing you no favour by fixing their mistake. One can reasonably expect when one buys a laptop that it will last more than 2 years. Ever hear of the phrase "fit for purpose"? In New Zealand we have the Consumer Guarantees Act which covers goods purchased not-for-business-use over and above any one year warranty. We are covered for the reasonable expected life of the product. An organisation here called the Consumers Institute, regularly expose the racket which is 'extended warranties' - because consumers here are already covered by law. Although, it sometimes is more convenient to shell out for the warranty than going to small claims court later on if the store decides to play hardball.
