Ok, thanks for the detailed explanation. I figured it was some sort of religious debate that delved into minutiae of the Linux subsystem of which I am blissfully unaware of.

Umm kissing a underage boy on the lips while not a "dangerous" sexual offense certainly qualifies as sexual assault on a minor nonetheless. Besides that, this was not the first time he's been accused of fooling around with kids. I wonder if this clown was a USENET KOOK? If so the Feds killed 2 birds with one stone.

Everybody here realizes that the "internet" can be shut down if everything gets out of hand don't they? All of the public infrastructure (in the US at least) that carries traffic is subject to a myriad of laws and regulations long ago established by the FCC (i.e. your government). So if anyone thinks there is no way to stop this are somewhat naive because there is a "kill" switch for the internet that the government controls, we just haven't reached the point where using it outweighs the economic and social disruptions such a massive decision such as that would generate ....yet.

I think it's a little naive to think that if all illegal downloads were somehow eliminated that people would turn to alternative music/software. For one thing the documentation in FOSS is (for the most part) lacking. There are so many bands vying for attention now that you almost need the pay model to separate the wheat from the chaff (yeah I know there's a lot of chaff in the legit marketplace too but it's higher quality chaff). Nobody has the time nor the inclination to "discover" new music and they tend to go with the flow because their peers are into it.

Sorry but UP (IMHO) was the most overrated film I saw this year. Predictable plot, really BAD 3D (it was like looking at an aquarium) and they pretty much stuck with the CG animated formula. That's what I disliked the most about this movie, they took no creative chances.

Regardless if it's "wrong" to use company assets for personal use. I think everyone's missing the point here. The "social media director" (geez where can I find a meaningless do-nothing job like that!) crossed the privacy line even if the moron posted it twice. That's what moderators do - edit and remove trolls - why he felt he had some moral obligation to inform this school of this misdeed is beyond me. Last time I checked, humans were not perfect and to use the "well he loses all of his rights when he walks into the workplace" argument doesn't wash with me in this case. This guy seems like some narcissistic asshole to me that "wanted to get even".

There is no such thing as "Clean Coal" and if you think the current administration will not realize this think again: Big coal was a major contributor to Obama from early on in his political career.

No they are the same code base. I know cause I just spent a week with an embedded guy who was helping our company with a XPe deployment and he also used to work for M$.

The key diffences between Pro and XPe is that you can roll your own components through thier cheesy target designer, you can have as much or as little of the OS "Visible" as you want and they have an EWF filter that you can use to make the OS un-writable for stability.

Otherwise it is the same stuff. In fact I recieve security alerts about the same time as they are announced for Pro.

I don't exactly think XPe is taking the embedded world by storm. (However CE is a different story though) As there is only 2 commercially availble books even written on the subject. So you either hire someone for 2K per day to help, or you go to school for a week and pick it up there. That being said, I am amazed that they went this route when there must be other options availble.

If AT&T wern't such greedy pigs they might realize that when you buy a company out (In my case MediaOne) there is this thing called "Goodwill" that you might want to retain. Instead, my Cable modem speeds were capped at 1.5mbs and the upload speed choked off at 128kbs. The "Good news" is that if I want to cough up somewhere around $80.00(US) a month I can get back my old speeds with their "Ultra-Link" service. Sounds like a ultra hose job to me. This is why the market penetration for cable modem service will stall out. It only appeals to the power user, Aunt Mary will never buy into high speed access unless it is competitively priced. Of course if I was willing to move to new development with fiber to the home and spend $300,000-$500,000 on a new home I would be in hog heaven.
