I can't drive 55mph anymore, I'd rather do a 100kph. I like my beverages and engine sizes in liters and my bullets in mm. I like running a 5k race and I certainly like the sound of weighing only 95kg. We need to grab this country by the scruff of it's neck and drag it kicking and screaming into the 19th century.

You are true on that, Clinton was more a less a dipshit, and had nothing to do with the economy or the deficite. Then again neither did Congress. Having a giant surplus had a lot to do with that and a fast growing economy, that again, well shy of Al Gore inventing the internet, had nothing to do with the president. As far as the "Conservative science" is asinine and I'm tired of all groups(Conservative and Liberal) constantly having studies only to skew the results to make their argument look better. Abortions cause cancer, who cares, condoms equals more sex, so what. Anything that leads to a reduction in the population, especially in the ultra liberal/conservative portions, is a good thing.

You are right for the pulp fiction type of stuff, but I work on aircraft outside, around oil, hydro fluid, jet fuel, and the wind. Our job guides get destroyed very quickly. Our TO guy that maintains them all, replaces nearly 2000 pages a month. If we had what the above article mentioned our books would last a hell of a lot longer. I don't think they intended to replace all books with this process. Besides the ultra-conservative and the nazi types would be upset if you couldn't have a good ol' fashon book burning.

  4. The problem is the players on EverQuest: What You Really Get From an Online Game · · Score: 1

Online games shouldn't have massive amounts of people. I can go to six flags, or the mall if I want to be up to my elbows in people. I don't want to stand in line for an hour to kill (insert monster name here). Give me a server with less than a hundred slots available for a single world and a buddy list, and I'll be happy. Of course you'll need quite a few more servers, but encounters with other players will not be similiar to how well we react with each other on the highway during gridlock. You can make friends, enemies, and form guilds without triping over each other constantly.

SWG is looking more promising since they actually have factions and PvP action. Instead of chasing after the same monster all the time and having everyone camp on spawn points you can go after the other players and actually have some wars.

  5. Re:DO NOT WORSHIP SANTA CLAUS ! on Santa Claus vs. the Marketers · · Score: 1

The Church modified a lot of the celebrated Church days to match those of the Pagans they were trying to convert. It had an eroding affect. Slowly it ate away at the old traditions and moved them towards the new, of course the new Chruch holidays couldn't escape the influence of the old so we see a hodge podge of both. Halloween is another good example of the Church's schemes. (All saints day). Personally I dislike Christmas (commercial version) and despise religion (I grew up in a Catholic school), but there is nothing wrong with giving gifts and doing good for others. Christmas doesn't have anything to do with God(Jesus), Santa, or Toys R Us. It's about getting closer to or reuniting with family and friends, as well as helping out those we don't even know. Christmas is the annual reminder, of things we should be doing year round. Merry Christmas everyone.

  7. This is a bad topic to post on An Unbiased Analysis of Gun Crime vs. Gun Control? · · Score: 1

Very few people are interested in any truth when it comes to fire arms. 95% of the comments are smart ass remarks and severely biased opinions. Pro-gun want no restrictions. Anti-gun want no guns. Neither is reasonable or based in reality. Personal responsibility is what we should be worried about. Those who think only the police should have the weapons forget that the "specially trained" police are just regular people. There's nothing unique about them. So there is no reason to take away the right to own firearms from the majority of poeple that obey the laws and behave properly. A firearm in itself can do no harm, it takes a person, and it's those who step over the line that need to be delt harshly with, and we do in this country. (I personally like Florida's law. Use a gun in a crime get a mandatory 10 years, point it at someone it's now 20, actually shoot someone it's 30+.) The United States has over 50,000 people killed a year by firearms, but what the statics don't tell you is that the entire 50,000 were not all murders. A large portion were police officers and normal citizens doing their duty to protect themselves and those around them. On the other hand a large portion were, but taking away the firearms just treats the symptoms and doesn't create a permanent solution. Look at England, they've removed the firearms, but their crime rate is going through the roof. Maybe not firearm killing, but everything else is rapidly increasing. The increase in crime points to a deeper problem, that firearms have nothing to do with, personal responsibilty and a strong sense of right and wrong. An individual who does not have these things has no business owning a firearm. Automobiles are far more dangerous to children than firearms, but you don't see the liberal left screaming for a 7-day cooling off period on SUV's and mandatory safety training. (A driver's test is pathetically easy.) We don't hear about restictions on owning pets (though that's changing) when we have to "put to sleep" hundreds of thousands every year do to abandonment. When children commit horrible crimes the parents always say, "but they were such a good kid how could that happened?" It all boils down to personal responsibility. Find out how to measure that, and punsih or restrict those that lack it, then many of our problems, especially those that involve firearms will go away. Catch these individuals early on in life and start taking away the rights that they cannot or will not handle. Firearm ownership is the big one, let's not forget access to alcohol or the right to operate an automobile, and yes even having children. A person that is not responsible enough to properly take care of, store, or use an inanimate object has no business being in charge of a human life.

It sort of the other way around. Somebody comes up with a movie script (sometimes even a plot too) Then they ask hey can we do this?? The CG/SFX guys go "idonno, let me get back to you." They've taken the whole infinite number of monkeys with typerwritters theory to heart. Most, of the better games, or more specifically game engines use their releases just to sell the engine. On top of that they have been including more robust modding tools so that the amatuer can have a crack at it. Nearly all of the best FPS games and game types have come from the community not from the companies. Get enough people working on anything and the results tend to be very good.
