This isn't spam, but Chank a very interesting and good font creator is using the system too. I won't be sending him any money due to how I feel on the amazon patent bit, but I thought I'd point it out.
gorilla.bas you could always turn to in a pinch, if you were off somewhere using someone elses pc or at work and happened across a machine. good stuff.
if you are using Build 2000121306 you are not using the December 3rd build.
Let's break it down:
2000121306
^^^^---year
2000121306
^^---month
2000121306
^^---day
2000121306
^^---checkin # for that day.
You're using the December 13th build, not the 3rd.
Todays build is nice as well, but there is still the canvas bug error that's been hanging around for about a week. Not nice, but if you know what you're doing, easy to work around.
As has been pointed out by many othe posters, I'm sure...
A client filled with Eye Candy is not efficient. Hell, the Seti@home client is not efficient to begin with, and then they throw all the wiz-bang-gui on top of it. I prefer to get as _much_ out of my idle cpu cycles as possible. Considering that the largest majority of my idle cycles are when I'm away from my computer, what good is a cute little screen saver?!!
Is there anyone really left that can compete now in the video card market? Unless Matrox pulls something fantastic out of their hats, I wonder what's going to happen, especially with prices.
I knew I had seen this somewhere a long long time ago. The nets are used in some remote mountain areas that dont' get a lot of rain but get lots of fog. the people trap the moisture and it get's piped down the side of the mountain to their village. sheesh, that episode was years ago....
Let's hope for NetZero. I have found there service to be painful to use. Once every 15 minutes or so you get a pop-up dialog box (not a browser window, but an actual program dialog box) that says either:
1. "Hey, if you click on the banner in our banner portal you could get cool stuff!" or
2. "You will be disconnected in 30 seconds if you don't click ok" This last one is done regardless of the current activity. Even if you're not idle, you get this message.
Yes, the free internet access is being terminated. I have provided the text from the email I received from them below:
Dear Member,
We regret to inform you that AltaVista's free Internet access will terminate service on December 10th. AltaVista has been forced to discontinue this offering because the company who provided the service and telecommunications infrastructure for it, 1stUp Corp., is going out of business. This change will not affect the availability of our search services at AltaVista.com
AltaVista thoroughly investigated finding another supplier to provide a free Internet access service. However, we were unable to find a company that was able to meet the needs of our Members.
Special No-Risk Offer: 3 Months Free from MSN

Send an email to a person via SecureDelivery.com and the recipient gets an email saying "You've got a secure email, click here to view it"
After creating a passphrase you can go back and click the link _again_ to view the email. However, SecureDelivery doesn't save any/unread/ emails past 7 days, but what about regular emails? Will I have to have a folder filed with obscure links pointing to SecureDelivery in order to get these messages at a later date? It seems like a good idea on the surface, but there are still some things to be worked out (imho).
How could dnet, in keeping the same projects, getting support for new projects, getting a new stats server, getting more bandwidth, getting moneys for new projects, and getting more support/reduce/ your interest in them?
Either you're a troll or you're not very bright and need to re-read the press-release.
I agree. The parent to your comment is either paranoid, a troll, or just lacking intelligence. There is no "selling out" here. The founders of dnet have spent hundreds of unpaid hours building, enhancing and promoting distributed.net (along with lots of other people, yes) and now they get new and exciting jobs out of it... That's not selling out, that's fulfilling everyones dream. Do something cool, get noticed for it, and then get rewarded.

thank you to whomever moderated this for proving my point exactly. you are a blessing to the institution we call morons.
How did this get moderated as insightful? It is clearly a troll.
because most moderators are idiots of course.
or, the more cynical view is that he or his troll friends have so many accounts that they can mod up their own posts.
although they are making fun of it...they really do (or will soon) own the trademark for it...

:| maybe?
just like
it's pretty sad and funny. it's
try mozilla. it'll cure what ails you.

Classic SNL. There's nothing like it.
wow. another case of moderaters with out a clue.

mod points. mod points.

wow. now here is an example of someone not reading the FAQ.
The distributed.net client uses IDLE cpu time. The client runs all the time.
http://www.distributed.net/faq/
please, I've contributed to the FAQ for dnet: read it and learn.

A while ago I wrote Live365.com about requiring users to pay fees and I received their response:

I'm hoping that they'll stick to this policy

Frustrating. But, one gets what they pay for
