If this is the reason, they should be applauded for trying something new. This law WOULD make forged headers illegal.

One problem is that this also constrains anonymous peer-to-peer systems such as Freenet. One of it's strengths is that when you receive a request for a file from an IP, you don't know if that IP origionated the request. If you don't have it, you pass on the request and the node you pass it onto doesn't know if you requested it.

This does make it impossible for a "communications service provider" to determine the origin or destination of the file or information request.

If this is the intended outcome, it is a major violation of a civil liverty we have been appreciating lately.

The idea of a floating island or a boat city or something is very sexy, I agree. Unfortuantly it is very expensive and hard to maintain. Can you imagine the logistics of trying to keep a structure big enough to hold 10k people floating? It would also be difficult because of it's size, it'll be more prone to being destroyed by weather, so it will always be on the move so it's ahead of some squall or hurricane. Plus you have to worry about data connections because since it is not a solid land mass, you cannot have undersea cables. Then there is getting fresh water, maintance, danger of submarines, mad bombers who can attach a small bomb to the hull, etc. There are too many problems with the idea.

The best idea is to buy an island. There are quite a few people on this board who make very good money. We can start our own island, our own government, and we can do things right this time. We can have true democracy through technology, instead of having representatives who don't represent the American people, they just represent whatever companies give them a nice chunk of change.

We need our own country. Our own island somewhere where we can start from scratch, the right way. The government would consist of democracy through technology. Everyone would have digital communications access. You think that a new streetlight needs to be out up? Log on and submit it. If more people support it then think it's a bad idea, it'll get done. Why attack a country with some of the brightest minds who are not constrained by the laws of totalitarian governments? If you have made sure that your drivers are up to date, there are no programs in the background, and followed other suggestions by EA, then it could quite possibly be a hardware issue. As a PC tech, I hate problems like this because they are so hard to diagnose.

The first things that you should consider to be at fault are memory, video RAM, and cache. They are a common source of problems that don't seem to have a cause. That's because they are so sensitive to electrostatic shock, that when they are put in, they could be damaged but still work. You can check those components by using hardware testing software. I must warn you that a memory test can take hours. If you have 128 MB, prepare to leave the machine on for over a day. Check out PCDiags (but that one costs money) or visit your hardware manufacturers page to get testing programs for each piece of hardware. If you don't know what hardware you have, use System Analyser to make a list.

After you have ruled those out, break down the system to the bare components that you need to run the game. Take out your sound card, modem, ethernet card, and disconnect all peripherials except mouse, keyboard, and monitor. Then play and see if it crashed. If it doesn't, then it was one of those components. Start putting them in one-by-one until the problem happens again, and you should know what is wrong.
