Do not be stupid. Of course it is a valid defence.
Most viruses do not need an unsecure os, just a clueless person. Of course I do not think it was a virus, but *if* it was a virus, then of course it would be an excuse.
Well SGI is 64-bit, Apple is not (no 64-bit OS). SGI has many CAD programs, Apple has not. Apple is expensive, SGI is more expensive. Apple only got one mouse button, not good for cad.
I would guess that the opteron is better then both the mips and the G5.
Because there is a webserver in the linux kernel, I guess (I know it is a webserver in the kernel, but I do not know if your comments has to do with it).
You do not need a license to use GPL software, only to distribute it, the problem is not for the consumer, it is for the distributer that can not opt away their warranty and such things, i.e. you seem to be liable even if you give it away for free.
Now, as of 16 June, we also increased our claims amount to include all AIX-derived hardware, software
^^^^^^^^ and services, given that they are now - in deriving that revenue - on an unauthorised route for use of the software.
Yeah, but you can not use more than 2, 3 or 4 gig ram (per process, do not know much of mach/bsd/darwin, but I would guess the limmit is 2 gig)
And in no way can you use 64 bit pointers.
So what you do have is a nice 64-bit machine running in 32-bit mode at a speed of a budget athlon/p4. I myself do prefer PowerPC ISA, but hey, who program in assambly language today.
It has nothing to do with linux, it is the GNU environment...

No, but we are talking about program licenses. I do not think documentation licenses need to fullfill free software guidelines.
Neither does the fsf, otherwise they would not have published the license. The GFDL has these "problematic" parts for a reason; resons that are not as valuable in software.
Is the question "is the documentation free software" sane?
I, personly think there is a difference, and I think the GFDL is okey for documentation, but NOT for software, maby we should have another license for music!

Finaly the killer reason for terrorism.
This is wrong.

That still does not explain why they did not cut

had *no* meaning

It uses xml.
If you can handle the complex procedure of buying
a mouse, you surly do not need a mac.
In CPU power, yes, but MacOSX can only address
4 gig of ram (I would guess only 2 gig per prosess).
If you want a fast cpu use an intel or AMD depending
on what you want to do.
If you want a fast cpu that can address much mem
use an opteron or itanic (itanic is fast on
number crunching).
Can *what*?

Computers are not needed for small kids.
It is better for them to learn some math,
or more important their language.
Wine may work for you, it is win32api on top of unix.

>> shouldn't it be BSD/GNU/Linux?
No, it should be GNU/Linux/BSD
as most of he bsd stuff is drivers.
Do you got ICC as a kernel module?

4 gig on a 32-bit os?

BNU religion, it boots the Hurd!

That is why I like debian.
