EB used to accept returns on everything (new, used, etc). It was great for when the significant other said "you can't play that!" They changed that rule sometime in the past. I can see why with the rise of CD burners and the crazy "CD Key" concept. It was good while it lasted.
I dropped quarters into MK. I admit it. My uncle owned a grocery store and had collected over $100 in Candian quarters. I took them to the local arcade. The only "cool" game that they worked on was MK. Street Fighter II just wouldn't take them. So I played MK.
The game was terrible to play. No depth. I could only do one fatality. But I played because it was free. I later got caught up in the hype and bought it for the SNES. More money wasted.
The arcade also had quarter pizza in the evenings, but guess what, they didn't take Canadian money.
MK2 was much better, but still not great. They had it at the pizza joint by my middle school. We played after school (I made up reasons to stay late -- Mom, just pick me up across the street). That machine took real quarters. The store was next to a fruit stand. Nothing like spending your extra ten cents from lunch on 3 cherries. Eating cherries and playing MK2. What fun.
Another idea is to make the machines take company "tokens" that each employee gets a set number of (per week/month). That could cut out excessive gaming.
The removing the battery to switch games thing is huge, as you said. That and all the buttoms everywhere. I wouldn't know how to pick up one a friend owned and play.
As for competition to Nintendo, I think Sony and the PSP will do that just fine.
I'm holding out for the TapWave Helix/Zodiac (but only because I'm looking to replace my Palm, not my GBA).
Sadly, TapWave and Nokia will likely lose against Nintendo and Sony. Maybe next time.
SCO and the RIAA have teamed together to created a new litigation system! For each friend using Linux or MP3s that you turn over, you get $245! For each friend they turn over, you get $243!
You may not believe me, but I got a check for $10,045! It really works! Forward this email to everyone you know and start turning in friends today!
I agree, but the profit margin on memory cards are huge. Essentially, it's an 8MB flash card. I can get a 64MB Compact Flash for the price of a PS2 memory card.
Probably not at all. It's been theorized ATI will have two seperate teams working on the chipsets. Sounds likely, otherwise there would be a serious breach of confidentiality.
"Well MS, you just have to live with what we made for Nintendo."
Which would turn into: MS: "XBox2 two pushes 80 quadzillion polys per second." Nintendo: "Funny, we have the same graphics core and it only pusses 20 quadzillion is real life. And is that a Pentium 4 as your processor? Haha!"
how about "smogged"?
Sounds dirty. 'Cause it is!
Second that for Tekkan Tag. =)
I was actually beaten by someone using a DDR pad while I used a dual shock controller. A testament to my Tekken skills.
I couldn't keep the party around long enough to get a DDR controller vs. a DVD remote control Tekken battle.
In unrelated news, Skee-Lo sales on iTunes were up 5000% today...
Only thing that would worry me is that they already have your credit card number.
That's what disposable credit card numbers are for!
I usually insert a game and use the power switch to turn my GBA into a game console. Works with the GBASP too.
Lest we not forget Cool Spot.
1. Drop GameCube support
2. ???
3. Post quarterly loss!!

Did you watch Episode I or II? 90% of the film is post-production computer work. He's still got a chance.
I too was tempted.
Imagine a Beowulf cluser of... wait
2. ???
3. Profit!
MS security patch articles are never dupes. Each one is a new, unique flaw.
Stoplights are my favorite. Traffic, don't notice it anymore. Dangerous, probably. Sure beats the guy I see with his business section every morning.
Good thing I've never admitted in public that I have a machine running Linux.

I was trying to be funny. Apparently I'm not. =)
Thanks for the help anyway. I've often debated: start my own blog, or use Journal. Journal looks nerdier, so that might win.
I won't write in my Slashdot Journal because people will just mod it down. (-1, Offtopic)
Don't worry, it'll eventually be posted here by someone. Someone...
This whole time we just misnumbered:
/.
1. Write a book
2. Publish book
3. Get a review on

4. Profit!!

Well, they are suing IBM for 3 Billion Dollars!! (Evil Dr. Evil laugh)
For a million lines of code, that's $3000 per line of code.
Hey IBM, I can code for way less than $3000 per line of code.

Nice sig BTW, where have I seen that one before?
Thunder, thunder, thunderbird. Ho!
Sorry, couldn't resist. Plus Thunderbird is a good alternative to Outlook Express.
