Judging by Norway's murder rate they are doing just fine.

At some point crazies will always do bad things, but preventing more mundane crime that kills more people is a far more effective goal. Norway seems to be doing pretty well on that front.

For reference Norway has a homicide rate of 0.6/100k the USA is at 4.8/100k.

Here I will call them out for you:

BES sucks, getting rid of it was a huge win for the entire sysadmin team. We no longer had to repush servicebooks or restart the BES just so one user could start to get emails again. Doing that last one was painful because then the other BES users, who did not read the email about the pending restart, would call in to inform us that they were not getting mail during the restart. We no longer have to send back devices that for no known reason will never allow themselves to be setup for BES or any of those other headaches.

That should get them going pretty good.

The police doing their job seems to be the best solution. This seems pretty common though. A friend once reported a theft from a vehicle and the police were annoyed he made them fill out a report when he did not have insurance for this. They literally did not even want to collect basic information that could be used to monitor the number of crimes occurring much less attempt to catch the perpetrators.

Bain had the chain take out fat loans used those to pay themselves huge consulting fees then sold the real estate under the store and rented it back. Great way to turn an asset into a liability for short term gain. Thus making the short term balance sheet look great, which let them put them back on the market at a huge profit while the chain was nothing but a zombie.

I did not vote for Obama, by the way. I am glad that out of the two front runners he won though. Not that the president has the magical powers people think he does, but lessor of two evils and all that jazz.
