    Actually that is pretty common and your friend can deduct that tax if the UK is a tax treaty member and I am almost sure they are.

    This is for a very simple reason, without it all the big earners would simply have their pay given to them in another nation.

    Banks like Insurance companies do not care about causation all they care about is correlation. If more than 50% of the people who visit slashdot are bad drivers but good at paying their bills, and they find out you visit slashdot you will get a great rate on a loan and expensive insurance.

    1. Incorrect, so long as it kills less people it will be fine.
    2. Toyota had a market problem not a software problem. They were simply old geezers confusing the pedals.
    3. there is no reason why good security could not be used in driverless cars.

    They will be far less likely to back over a kid, or confuse pedals like oldsters around here love to do. This is because the outside of the car can be covered in sensors instead of being a hinderance to visibility to the driver.

    That they have a lower crash rate than humans and we are all forced to switch to them.

    Not sure that is going wrong though.

    If they can reduce the fatality rate, and the eventually will, it will not matter if different folks die only that less die. This is the same thing as vaccines. You trade X deaths for X/Y deaths, while those latter deaths are unlikely to be the same folks.

    That is something I did not think of, but you are totally correct. Media is improved when we no longer have characters out of some morality play, but actual flawed people who could exist.

    Honestly if you don't want to know what is going on or care, just watch reality tv and leave those of us with attention spans alone.

    Some of us have attention spans longer than 45 minutes.

    DS9 was the best simply because they finally had a Trek with actual storytelling.

    I think more than the darkness it was good because it did not forget everything going from episode to episode. It had actual story arcs and history.
