  1. Jammers on Tanker Truck Shut Down Via Satellite · · Score: 1

So now all they have to do is spend a few hundred and get a GPS jammer, oops no longer can we track it. That little monitoring device, its probably always putting out a signal which means somebody could scan the freq's, figure out which it is and jam it as well...or maybe it requires some "keep alive" signal which they would have to spoof. Sure its all complex but its not that hard to do, hell you can find the GPS jammer stuff via google and anybody good with HAM could do the other part. Oh yea but we can all feel safe by the fact that next time the main server for this system crashes the freeways can grind to a halt as all has-mat vehicles stop at the same time.

Now we are all going to have to carry a low powered GPS jammer to attach to our cell phone. Problem solved!! That being said GPS jamming is probably not legal...

actually you ARE getting the same signal but do not have the encryption codes and stuff necessary to make it show the correct position. All of the GPS satalites are owned by the US government and they can do whatever they want with them. Its possible to have all the gps units suddenly show us we are in china then in japan. This might be usefull during war to perhaps make the enemy go the wrong way ;) Anyways none of us mere mortals are allowed acess to it but if you have all the encrption info (I do not know what it is exactly) you can get the same accuracy but they don't want civialians having that good of units...

Or they could just distribute the source to said "feature" making it easy to disable. Then it would have it and not have it all in one.

You can mod a XP into a mp anyways. Just have to bridge a little joint and it will be recongized as a MP, even a pencil drawn line will work ;) Well this offtopic anyways, so ill stop talking about them mods. It is good to see nvidia going ahead like this by the time the hammers are public should have a good deal of beta testing done, if nothing else they will have a few versions behind them.

Sometimes, especially with a min debian install, you do not get all the tools. I have flipped to the front where there is a indexing of all commands in catagories and found it. Overall the book is not the best for a NEW user but great for somebody who knows there way around the command prompt, it is never farther than a arms reach from my desk!

  9. Even if you make guns illegal on An Unbiased Analysis of Gun Crime vs. Gun Control? · · Score: 1

Even if you made guns totaly illegal for any person except law enforcement that would not stop the criminals. In Washington DC it is illegal to have a gun, now think for a second of some of the bad areas of nearly any city, DC is no different. I lived in DC for awhile and when driving by some of these sections it was not uncommon to hear gunfire, semiauto and fullauto at times. The problem is with laws they usually only hurt the good people. This is no different with guns. I am personally a gun owner and though not radical belong to the NRA for the same reason as the author (need to for matches). Criminals will break the law anyways, do not punish all people and prevent them from owning weapons.

I can see them not allowing for official support, they may start trying to claim they are working and go for overtime or something. However, they should tell them to use a different login on after hours support. Some people just like helping others...I know I spend a few hours a night on a tech support irc channel helping out all sorts of problems that are easy to me. Unfortunatly in this money hungry world you have to always watch your back.
