I *owned* a G5 laptop - long story short it isn't worth the money period. Slow interface,horrible HD response times, below-standard onboard sound, laggy processing, buggy OS. I know apple fans don't like to hear this stuff but any true professional developer which doesn't just know how to use photoshop and bryce should and will agree anyway the laptop seemed great when I got it but after a week with it I practically had a nervous break down for having wasted money on such lousy and deceiving product much like the Ipod that I pawned after the battery died 3 months after the $400 purchase(BTW I am aware you can replace it *now* but I'm not going to use a $400 product with a 25% interest investment in the battery every few months when I can go and buy a gameboy advance with a smart media reader).
Actually, I think the the power has it's place definatly not in households where it's not being used but it does have a place but this mini-pc would definatly replace 50% of what we use a PC for the other 50% being high-end applications and games.
I purchased a Titanium G4 laptop and after that an Ipod - now I consider my self an independent wehn it comes to OS's and such because of such diverse use between macs and ibm's when I was younger but soon after I purchased the laptop I returned it because of horrible performance, slow response time, and overall slow slow slow OSX because when I have to wait 15 seconds for a menu to pop up in photoshop I consider that a big obstacle in efficiency when it comes to an APP or scenario not 3 months after returning the laptop I started to see my $500 IPOD start to loose battery life very fast...sold it at a pawn shop before it completely died on me...my point is that even that I will admit apple's hardware looks like it is designed but armani or some high-class designer its inards are CRAP and I would go as far as to say all of these apple products or laptops atleast are much like the ferrari laptop that looks good but runs like Sh** not to mention products that have been built with such a low life-span on purpose are purely for the drones who believe apple a *corporation* actually cares about their interests and money - they don't , I think a $500 Ipod that start to loose battery life after a few months is just plain old crap...no other way to explain it.
p.s. I blame the typo's in the above text on the stress apple has caused me over buying what you think is going to be a great electronic device for a really expensive tag only to find out you have to pay $100 to replace it...yeah apple is really cool, cool like when a someone farts next to you on a bus.
I actually used to play UT and Unreal with a girlfriend to keep in touch being that you can find many different maps that give a kind of surreal feeling like you are going together on an adventurer into a huge virtual world one good example of a map we used to run around and chat on was Nyleve Falls in Unreal...anyways that's my two cents...:-)
Seems like an interesting book but one of the annoyances I discovered was going to that "util" url and finding decent software mixed in with really crappy software I suggest downloading ad-aware before downloading the other stuff on that page lol!
BTW This is just my personal oppinion and should be taken as more then just a little bit a venting...pretty sad that I actually felt I needed to write this to protect myself...lol
All I have to say is with all the censorship and scandal going around this country and it's government...it's getting pretty p-a-t-h-e-t-i-c, I think what's really sad is that this country has such a feeble-minded president currently, I think if Washington was here they would have already hung Bush and his son for insulting the English language and running this country like if it was a video game with infinite lives...take what I just said anyway you want to I preferred Clinton and I would not have been filled with such resentment towards Bush if I could actually find something about him to admire...starting a war is easy having the balls to do it yourself and finish it and not just sit next to the red phone waiting to release another command to troops to walk into some mines so they don't have to waste grenades...Peace,Freedom,and the pursuit of decent presidents that's all I ask.
I think it's as simple as bringing proof that you aren't mentally DEFECTIVE like these kids when you buy a game, the architecture, textures, sound, music, simulation, and 3D models in GTA Vice City are great and you can tell alot of work went into it...Now back when Tomb Raider first came out people freaked about it the same goes for Mortal kombat and frankly I don't remember seeing a girl at school trying to jump off the building and do a flip like Lara Croft. The parents and the children are one without the influences of the parents and friends of each child they will not go out and shoot a gun near the freeway. It is really radiculous to assign blame to a CD that was inserted into the gaming system by these two very disturbed children, I think the comparison of other scenarios that could occur if you were defective enough to play out the game in REALITY is endless and could go on forever all in all the women who got hit should be suing the parents of these children it is the fault of the parents to have not raised and watched their children in a "normal" way and by normal I mean normal enough not to go out into a mall with a boom box playing 70's hits and a mini gun...can't say much else I guess - just my 2 cents.

Yet another good point. I keep on going down these audiopad posts and I see alot of biased posts with intelligent replies so I though I'd try and do my part and add to the intelligent replies.:-D
I write, compose, and listen to many forms of "electronic" music now to the not so bright people who have an natural born hatred of electronic music I would just like to say 90% of the music you listen to these days is a form of electronic music, i.e. it has recorded, reorganized, and re-mastered in some electronic or digital way. Aside from that I love many forms of "electronic" music such as smooth expanding melodic "trance" and I must say the AUDIOPAD is AMAZING in the way it allows a musician or performer to interact with their music - this is one useful and beautiful instrument and these two guys have really made making it to MediaLab something I must really strive for just to have a chance to work, interact, and create with such intelligent and creative minds.
Yes, back in the day I used program basic/pascal/udms but now days nobody that didn't have a computer below a 386 even knows what DOS or a command prompt is...pretty saddeningâ¦
