I thought the title said "Leonard Nimoy Shower Observation Tips" I could feel my eyes trying to rip themselves from my sockets. Whew, thank god for second glances.

  2. Electronic voting ... where's the code? on Indecision 2002 · · Score: 5, Insightful

I'm curious, has someone audited the code for these devices? How do I know that some employee ,who's a hard democrat, republican, or independent, hasn't added his or her little hacks. Like every fifth vote that doesn't agree with his or her view gets changed. I guess with something as valuable as my vote, I want the source to be public.

I think that charge comes from including CodeWeavers's CrossOver Office, $55, and CrossOver Plugin, $25. CrossOver Office will run MS Office 97 and 2000, via wine, on your Linux box. And CrossOver Plugins will allow you to view Quicktime and other formats.

That looks like where the cash comes in, but do you really need it. OpenOffice is a great replacement for CrossOver Office, and Xine is a great replacement for CrossOver Plugins. And then you are getting a KDE desktop that in one revision behind the time.

Microsoft is threatening to not sell the XBox in Australia due to a guy being acquitted for making mod chips. Now just above Australia, is China. Wasn't there some crazy stat that 78% (2000) of the software in China is pirated and Microsoft is still selling there? If I was a Microsoft share holder I would be concern on the focus of Microsoft. I think less XBox mods are going to sell compared to copies of Office or XP.

  7. Hardware and other operating system. on Questions for a Lecture on Microsoft's Palladium? · · Score: 1

Since "Palladium" works on the hardware level, what say do other Intel based operating system "makers" ( Linux, FreeBSD, HURD, Solaris ) have in this "standard". If they do not have any say, what support is Microsoft, and the hardware vendors, going to give these operating system so they can continue to work on these new PC motherboards or devices.

People have started saying, "I'll just TiVo the show." The name TiVo is directy connected to it's function. Right now, I don't know any other company that does what they do. When I go to a Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. looking for a device to digitally record TV show, I'm going to go look for "TiVo".
