  2. Problems on Tech Firms Defend Moving Jobs Overseas · · Score: 5, Insightful

Well I'm a CS student about to graduate with my bachelors degree. I've found that the pay for the jobs out there hasn't decreased it's simply the number of jobs available has gone down the toilet. I used to think I would have a job straight out of college but now I'm a bit worried. There are more people applying for less and less jobs now. I've had several interviews but lost them due to a more experienced guy needing the job that before I might have had a good chance of landing. And realistically how can they expect people in America to work for less money when our cost of living is so high here?

to have Orrin Hatch as my congressional representative. I have never voted for him and after several news stories like this will never vote for him in the future. When will the people of Utah wake up and see that he does our state no good and harms our nation as well. Anti-trust laws are there for a reason. To keep companies from running rampant and having ultimate power to do as they will without regard. Nice move Orrin how much money did you take to get this law written? I suggest everyone write a letter to Senator Hatch and tell him what you think of this law. Utahans especially but it helps if anyone sends a letter in.

I'm not even going to mention the bastards overseas who are under no obligation to follow these rules( like they would if they had to anyway).

Or does the person sending the SPAM get the bill. And if so what if I start reporting my friend's email as SPAM just to get them to pay money. And then we have the lovely out of country spammers in China, India, etc. Somehow I think they won't care and will just send it anyways.

I don't get it. 100 grand is a lot of money that could be spent in better places. Based on Sally Struthers info for .85 cents a day or the price of non starbucks coffee I could be helping support a starving child in Africa. Now let's see.

    .85 cents * 30 days = $25.50 or $26 a month per child.
    $26 * 12 months a year = $312 a year per child
$100,000 / $312 = 320.5 children you could feed for a year with that much money!
Now I think we all see how silly the RIAA's plan is. Come on feed the starving orphans!

Yes in my MSN training they told me that I should be nice to the people on the phone but it wasn't required. You see they weren't the customer, Microsoft was our customer. So we should do whatever our customer Microsoft wants us to do, not what the people on the phone want. If we followed the established procedures from MS that said the problem is solved it was case closed for us and the person on the phone was SOL in many cases. Combine this with over bearing managers( I can excuse them, shit rolls downhill), low call times, bad scripts, low moral, etc etc, and I think people can begin to see why service isn't so good.

Also I used to work for MSN tech support and I think often times it's a combination of both. Lack of care for the customer and a lax hiring process that entails you can talk and will show upto work get you the job.
