When an individual goes around taking multiple pictures of a building from many angles, you know what it's usually labelled? "Casing a joint
Depends, could be a student of architecture, a reporter, could be someone snapping shots of artwork that decorate the building. Since when is taking more than one photo of something (especially for something incredibly useful) a bad thing?
Street View could potentially remove the need to *visit* a location before robbing it, especially with that page from a few days ago
You seem to focus on the negative uses and you're jumping on the "potential" uses! What about phone books? %Boogyman% have access to those. Better get rid of those. Do you find yourself driving around on roads possibly circling a place more than once? Who cares if you're lost - you're casing the area for potential victims! Do you know that cars can be used as potential weapons? Weapons are usually used for "bad things". No cars! Every man can potentially harm someone... lets not get started on search engines.
Google takes an "opt-out" position to privacy. That's the wrong way to do it.
I noticed you didn't give anyone permission to read your post - which would be crazy talk since you posted it on a "public" forum that anyone can access including search engines such as google. Why are you expecting privacy in public?
How about walling yourself off from anything public facing. You need to understand what public means. Heaven forbid anyone take a photo that includes your home in it - THEY could gain something from YOUR property.
Yeah, I remember gatos awhile back. Successful capture was a real effort with the ATI8500 AIW but display wasn't nearly as much of a pain. I learned a lot.
Apples and oranges. You're looking in the wrong place and I didn't ask what you'd rather see but a single volume that covers these topics in depth. Thanks for the reply though.
Well that guy didn't follow his own advice "think more type less" terrets != Tourettes but that was probably intentional right? What is your suggestion for a better source of the topics this book covers complined into a single volume? This book is not marketed as an authoritative source on all of the topics. Some of these pseudo rules are laughable, so I might as well add "I before E except after CSS3".
This site is simply amazing. If you're a novice designer or a guru this site has something for you. I have it set to my home page and frequently encounter new techniques as well as time savers. There are plenty of sites online that you can find similar material however the consistant quality and variety of the articles (and awesome comments) make it a valuable destination for insight, freebies (such as new fonts, brushes, icons), techniques, and discussion. On Smashing Magazine you can find some awesome insight from talented individuals much like some of the comments on Slashdot.
I recall the lament one of the team members stating that this movie was entirely scripted. Some of the builds prior to this one had a much more ambitious take on weapons (the game featured several dozen). I have a Voodoo 550 still in the box on my shelf for a never realized "classic" game machine that has been completely obsoleted by DOSBOX and VMs that has Halo artwork on it.
I'm not well versed on the 360 but I recall someone saying to keep an eye out on the games that you do decide to run. Some of them are packaged with updates that could compromise your Free60 (by patching the exploits). From the Free60 home page it looks like Summer 09 is when an update was pushed that fixes a vulnerability in the boot process.
Why not invest in a 2nd if you want to game. If you go that route you can use a real mod chip and use it for linux exclusively and you don't have to worry about xbox live borking it.
As an owner of an original Xbox that is modded (software) it is an excellent media center so I can see the appeal. I've purchased dozens of games for it however over the years it's seen the most use as a portable server. Other platforms have developer fees - the cost to develop on the iPhone is $100. Good luck doing this on Nintendo hardware.
I'm surprised you don't run a MythTV setup - at least you'd have control over the software and hardware. The Free60.org website appears to be down at the moment (google cache if you're impatient) you might have some luck there.
So you've got enough money for an XBOX360 but not for a Windows license? The XNA System requirements are XP which isn't exactly top dollar now a days. Why aren't you lamenting developing for other platforms? At least you've got an option without having to have deep pockets.
Seems like youre ignoring whether or not the act is right or wrong, and simply focusing on the net effects for society. I was under the impression that the basic purpose of a justice system was to punish actions that are wrong-- that is, to mete out justice.
I agree! I've met some great players. Although with the way things are headed I wouldn't be surprised if battlenet allows you to have friends on either faction.
Lurker here. I feel that his situation is unfortunate however placing the blame on 4chan for his actions is not right. He did something that is illegal and is facing the consequences.
I wasn't aware that QuickTime, Real, and WMV are H.264. I'm not arguing against H.264 (it was not mentioned anywhere in my post). Lets take a look at how a popular distribution handles proprietary codecs: MediBuntu/Ubuntu.
Notice the w32codecs need to be downloaded seperately due to legal issues. The win32 codecs provide support for WMV, RealMedia and other formats which have been bundled into the w32codecs package. The package is not available from the Ubuntu repositories due to licensing and legal restrictions.
Of course having to play ball with these restrictions depends completely on your morals and where you live (for them to be law).
You mean because MPlayer already includes them for you? QuickTime, Real, WMV aren't "open". Please examine the mplayer libraries more closely (especially for win32). Oops. Not to discredit MPlayer which is a great thing - but it's not magic.

procuts = products
People have been rooting against Microsoft for decades
Rooting against Microsoft by tossing them gobs of cash and using their procuts?

Well it's an improvement over /b/ right? right?
Fail.

Maybe we can pry the quote out of his cold dead hands? I know I know...
Neat blog - I've learned a lot.
I hope it works out. I'd start your journey here: http://www.xboxscene.com/

All I can say is wow. The situation of the students attending these "schools" reminds me of the saying: Criminals are not born. They are made.

You're confusing laws with morality.
I think this list would've been better sorted with the engines they use. Batman for example uses Unreal 3 etc.
