As was explained to me by a Lawyer who worked for Congress at one time, most laws are the result of knee-jerk reactions to public/corporate demand. Unfortunately, not much thought goes into the consequences of these laws. They just want to keep their jobs.

Another problem is that Congress makes some of these laws so vague as to leave too much interpretation up to the judges who try cases under these laws. Unfortunately, organizations such as the EFF don't have the clout or the resources that the corps do.

While Microsoft may spread FUD, people look at this guy and "wtf is this idiot doing? what's he talking about?" if i didn't know better, i'd avoid linux for the sole reason i wouldn't want to be associated with that nut.

I don't understand people like this. There is a BIG difference betweeen intelectual property and clothing whether you like it or not. When I download a song I am NOT depriving the RIAA of anything. I am simply copying it. They are still free to sell the music that people are willing to buy. I'm not claiming what I do is legal but I this is just an unfair comparison.

Gil Scott-Heron is in jail? Well I guess if CBS was pressured into moving their show the vast right wing conspiracy would have no problem sending him to things like "B" Movie. For those that don't know Gil Scott-Heron wrote "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" among other things. Look him up on KAZAA (now don't mod this off topic :P) and download some of his work! I bet Gil wouldn't mind.

Trust me you don't REALLY want to know everything your kids are doing and saying online. As its already been stated your 15 year old IS looking at porn. Quite possibly he also has girlfriend(s) online too and he would rather you not see the stuff he talks about. But beyond even that you would probobly never think the same way of your kid again if you saw everything. YOU would have your brain damaged knowing what your kid is doing far more than they would be damaged from having free (not as in beer) access to the internet. As for keyloggers they will be disabled in under 24 hours so don't even bother.

Space it self is not moving reletive to anything and therefor the speed of light limit can not be applied.
