All perfectly good ideas IMHO. It's strange to note that the majority of people against moderation are AC's. I'm not trying to point fingers here.. it's just an observable fact. As for the little old ladies, they drive me crazy! Get 'em off the road I say!;)

When I say better, I mean that it has more apps, it's more stable, and it looks cooler.
Ahem, are you seriously saying that there are more KDE apps than there are Windows apps? I'm no lover of Windows, but that is just the dumbest argument I've ever heard!
It must be related to the fact that many people aren't interested in CDE.
And this comes as a suprise? CDE is ugly to the extreme. Anything written with Motif should just be removed from existence.

GNUStep isn't a desktop environment. It's far more than that. It aims to be a complete implementation of OpenStep.
Yes, some people prefer Window Maker to Enlightenment. Me for one;) AFAIK, Gnome doesn't have a default Window Manager, since virtually all can be used. Some work better than others because they have Gnome support, but I'm pretty sure it isn't essential.
Actually the web site has been like that for quite a while. I guess it doesn't get much attention. It's a pity, since NeXTStep (which GNUStep/OpenStep is based upon) was one of the most comfortable environments I've ever used. It had a few niggles, but overall it was just a dream to use. I can only hope that GNUStep will get more developers so that we can begin to use it.
It's not Netscape. It's Mozilla. They are different things. But I see your point. As long as we only need to load the programs/modules we want to use it should be okay.
There were a few nice women in RD throughout the years. Pete Tranch's sister in Psirens (yes, that is where my name comes from) springs to mind. I believe she wanted Lister to squeeze her buttocks together to make one juicy giant peach.
Really? I love them both. I think DS9 was very good... especially the 5th and 6th series. I've yet to see the final series (I'm in the UK and don't have Sky).
I think you're being a little unfair. I think its a pointless article, but I don't live in the US. In fact, the general consenus in these comments seem to suggest it was not a worthwile or relavent article to even a small proportion of the tens of thousands of Slashdot readers. Star Wars on the other hand was. Not everyone likes it. But I'd say it was at least 50/50. This story affects so few people, it really wasn't worth the bandwidth. Still, it's started a nice little argument... which we all seem to love so much...
please explain to me how that implies that linux crashes
Why else would he make a point of saying that BSD's method of code inclusion reduces the chance of bugs. If he's not saying that the Linux method is poorer, then whats the point of that statement at all? It serves no purpose.
I also know that my workstation will not crash after my next upgrade.
The only time Linux has ever, ever crashed on me was due to faulty memory. Once it was replaced, it was all systems go. The article is just as offensive to Linux as it says Linux users are to BSD. What a big pile of bullpats.
What does 64 bit offer that 32 bit hasn't got? What I'm asking is, is there a big difference in raw performance because of the increase in bits, or does it have more to do with addressing etc. I was never very good at hardware at University, so can someone enlighten me?
Unless I misunderstood the whole karma thing, moderated comments don't get you karma. Moderated moderations do. Is that right?
Press F1 to continue...

There's never a damn keyboard in deep space when you need one is there!
Hehe.. lets just hope the vermiscous K-nids don't show up ;)
Very gross, but funny nonetheless. There is still air resistance to take into consideration though. Lack of gravity doesn't mean lack of air ;)
Cut out the blank lines will you? It just makes you look like a berk, and annoys the hell out of the rest of us.
Only seen it once... a long while ago, but you maybe right. Still, he *did* have a barcode in Terminator ;)
The Terminator. "Branded by laser scan." ;)
Anyone using a root password on the web is a moron in the fisrt place. Not likely to happen is it.
I have to really sit back, but do I really, REALLY want to live to be 100? 200? 250?
Perhaps if we live long enough, we may get to see a stable and working version of Windows...
Indeed. I was thinking the same thing wehn I made the booboo. Or remove them entirely. Guess that might cause problems with threading though.
Ooops. Apologies for the double post. I thought I'd stopped the submit, but obviously it got through. /. is a little laggy today.

I'd have to agree. The words barrel and scrape spring to mind.
