    I don't know about that. I mean, it's not inconceivable, not even close, but when you look at the aforementioned "masked password" problem (leaving out confirmation of a password you can't see begs for applied cluebat therapy) and the fact that even a "clean" (no add-ons or extensions) Firefox 18.0.1 won't even load the page for me, because of that stupid "The Operation is Insecure" LocalStorage error...

    It's definitely possible that it's not entirely a hatchet job.

    This is the same flawed mentality that has prevented Linux on the desktop from becoming more popular/usable. Instead of listening to criticism and using it to improve the software, it's disregarded/discarded because it's the easiest option. "So and so doesn't know what he's talking about. Meh."

    It's only gotten worse the past few years, since it's worked for Apple, and it's really starting to feel like everyone from GNOME to Microsoft wants to be them now. Too bad the philiosophy fails to take into account the "peculiarities" of Apples ecosystem.

    That's not what I mean by "password confirmation". That's email confirmation. This entire subthread is about someone saying that they don't make you type the password twice to confirm that you input it correctly.

    Not being able to reset the password on their side is a feature.

    Not requiring password confirmation is a bug, and a pretty amateurish one, to be perfectly honest.

    OT, but curiosity compels me since you brought it up.

    What, exactly, is the distinction between a "sprocket" and a "gear"?

    It's one of those little things that's always bothered me that I've been ignorant of, but googling doesn't help much since they seem to be incorrectly used interchangeably (much like "magazine" vs. "clip") on the intarwebz.

    I wonder if it's not incompetence, laziness, or a lack of manpower, rather than cowardice. We're talking entirely new dialogue trees here, and adding the content to back it up, not just throwing one option onto each NPC.

    Imagine the blowback if they did do it that way.

    Razer MICE seem to be okay, except for a weird issue where plugging it into USB chokes any attempt to use a USB Mass Storage on my Win7-64 desktop...

    Every other peripheral with their name on that I (or family who were well-intentioned and fleeced) has been utter crap. The last straw was the Onza gamepad my youngest brother gave me for my birthday. In less than 3 months, it was dead. Contacted Razer for an RMA.

    No cross shipping, and I ended up paying almost half the price of a new one to ship the POS back to finally get a replacement over a month after they received it.

    "Premium" brand, my arse.

    Steam itself is not DRM.

    Patently false. While Steam might occasionaly serve to let you download DRM free games (the Humble Bundles come to mind) which continue to work with steam uninstalled, you MUST have a valid Steam account to play the vast majority of games you purchase from the service, indie or otherwise, ON TOP of any other DRM which might be loaded onto the game.

    If you're cool with buying cheap games, with the understanding that you will have to bend over for whatever shit they feel like shoving into the unilaterally modified contract down the line, then so be it. Cop to it and don't let anyone try to talk you out of it.

    But don't lie.
