> I believe SIM cards are portable across service providers by law.
Nope; at least not as of a couple of years ago (last time I travelled in Italy). This was, granted, a cell that worked off of pre-paid sims, rather than under contract... couldn't switch providers, as the phone was sim-locked.
From the article:
the current design requires a hinge for the gasket and a separate hinge that allows 340 degrees of freedom between the screen and the keyboard.
Wow! This thing can rotate through hitherto unknown dimensions, and only costs a CNote? Sign me up!!!
The benefits of executing a hacker would be greater, he argues, because the social costs of hacking are estimated to be so much higher: $50 billion per year. Deterring a mere one-fifth of 1 percent of those crimes - one in 500 hackers - would save society $100 million. And Professor Landsburg believes that a lot more than one in 500 hackers would be deterred by the sight of a colleague on death row.
Silly analogy... as in "If we could just get one in five hundred burglars off the street, we could get rid of one in five hundred door locks", with a corresponding savings
Ooooooo, you hit one of my own pet peeves; "AgentNameLen"???? Who the heck is "Len"? Saving 3 characters vs "AgentNameLength" is false economy... more generally, don't use non-standard abbrevia's:-)
OK everybody, just concentrate... I sense the future... sometime in February, 2005, slashdot will... Jump the freakin' Shark(tm)... oh yeah, that would be the present. Sorry.
Funny, I had just the opposite reaction: Decided to go to half.com and buy, oh, the Anarchist's Cookbook or something... Then it occurs to me: with the state things are in in the US today, a person with an Arabic last name (like mine) could wind up among the "disappeared" of Patriot Act II.
It's like making hijacking jokes in an airport, only now it would seem we're always in the airport. I don't want to live in an airport. Oh well...

What members of the public would you like to design nuclear waste storage facilities?
How about a phew phucking physicists, maybe? Just a phucking thot.
Also, please remember to spay/neuter your new friend.
Man, you are going to make *no* new friends that way, dude. Word gets around ...

Not to put too fine a point on it, but geez, you know the guy's address ...
Why not submit a link? Oh, I dunno, maybe to avoid having his site buried under a steaming pile o' slashdotters :-)
VC8 is said to be quite std's compliant. Coming soon ...
Or perhaps trotski has been replaced by zippy? CNN seems unaware of both developments ...
