I have lots of girl/friends and I have met a number of women from using the Yahoo, Match.com, and eHarmony personals. Generally, what I have found is that the women who are on internet personals (and are legit) are there for a reason.
Women most often lie about weight... with the average women saying they are average and actually being overweight.
Men, it seems, most often lie about being married.
If you want to read the worst internet date ever... I published a story on my BLOG back in March that all of my friends have been begging me to write down for years. If, after reading it, you don't think there should be regulation of these sites... well... let's just say...Maybe we should have YOU investigated and regulated.
Yes most of them fall under their Apple category... and every of my submissions are aggregated or summarized on dozens of other blogs and Mac news sites
I submit my blog entries to digg regularly (and so do my readers)
Every other one gets a crappy comment on it... like blog spam or lame article. The commenter has neither read nor commented on what was right or wrong about the article.
It made me so mad the other day I posted in the comments to my own submission: "Take your crappy comments to Slashdot!"
Digg has more or less turned into a censorship site because a few users DO ruin and bury good articles and promote silly ones.
Funny ?. would post this because the joke is: calling Digg.... Slashdigg
Read the Uniform Trade Secret Act... it states that if you know information is a trade secret (it even gives the example of "an upcoming product") then you may not report it unless A) It is common knowledge, B) The company has already shown the prototype publicly or C) The company has authorized you specifically to report the information.
This isn't a matter of speech at all... he's right... he had the right to publish it... he didn't have the right to publish it without impunity. There's a difference. This is NOT reporting on scandal, corporate wrongdoing (tobacco, enron)... this is expoliting STOLEN information solely for gain... ie increasing hit totals to show potential advertisers.
I'm with you here... i don't mind people copying words and ideas and posting on their websites (mentioning me as a source and without my permission)... but I do mind people selling my ideas... not that I would even make it into 'an internet essentials collection'.
Rarely does an "environmentalist" asterisk or footnote ANY claim with:
"These findings are carefully researched but only subjective... it is not proven that global warming is a natural pattern of nature or a human population problem."
How many people this represents... how many unique users have downloaded these billion songs... because I know people who have downloaded hundreds and some that have downloaded one.
How many of these people are prize redemptions or giveaways?
How how many of these songs are validated on more than one computer and one iPod --- that would be really interesting to learn if people are still sharing...

RadioShack CEO Resigns
·
· Score: 1
No one has really touched on the REAL reason Radioshack has lost money and is just saying, well "we are restructuring". Restructuring usually means cutting back on full time employees, paying part timers less, cutting out at as little executive management as possible, and closing a few stores.
I don't know if any of you have ever been to a Fry's Electronics or not, but it is nothing short of a geek paradise... they are like an Apple Store, a Circuit City, a Barnes and Noble, a Best Buy, and a Radioshack... all under one roof. (Outpost.com is Fry's online storefront) They sell pretty much everything that Radioshack does... they don't sell much if anything under their own brand name.
Tandy corporation, which owns Radioshack seems to think the Radioshack namebrand is a strong name... so therefore they brand everything with the Radioshack logo. Only until recently (the last 5 years or so) has Radioshack started selling a lot of non branded electronics. A lot of items that Radioshack carries and has carried in the past... have been rebrands of other products... some with their supposedly prestigious name Optimus.
Here are the key areas Radioshack has truly failed and most likely can never recover...
1) Too many store locations... in my area we have one every 10 miles or so. Do people need Radioshack like McDonald's?
2) Rebranding instead of carrying unique items... I know of few people who actually want to own Radioshack branded products... in fact it bothers me that simple cables have the Radioshack name embossed on their connector ends... I feel cheap just plugging it in. Radioshack's name is not a strong name brand... of course nothing with the word "shack" in it when referring to high end consumer items is appealing.
3) Radio Shack has the same problem as Toys R Us... they sell things in their retail stores that kids simply do not want. The most recent example I can think of... Cat In the Hat remote control cars... from the Cat In The Hat live action movie... this movie was out 2 years ago and some stores STILL have stock! Merchandise managers and purchasers are just plain clueless when it comes to what it's customers want.
4 Most Radioshack stores I have visited (even if newly renovated or newly opened) are crowded or messy... one thing the Apple Retail Stores excel at is cleanliness and focus on product... eventhough each store has thousands of items for sale.
5) Competitors like Fry's are expanding and offering a greater selection... kind of ties in to # 4
6) Their commercials are some of the worst in the advertising industry and almost solely focus on cellphones. Really... Radioshack commercials are often idiotic featuring ignorant or whiney characters. Their Christmas holiday ads were ineffective.
I have always thought that Radioshack's should try to sell Apple computers. The deal with HP was very awkward and from what I know... HP reps rarely visited Radioshack stores. This would be an opportune way for Radioshack to get true geeks in their store and get them a fan base that would visit and buy because of loyalty. It would also allow radioshack to carry a truly prestigious name in their stores. Maybe Apple would even share in some advertising and merchandising.
The claim is... it is on a piece of property that is leased to the city on a 100 year lease from a private individual... and yes it has scam and kickbacks written all over it.
In my hometown of Greenville SC - a unique looking suspension bridge that was recently constructed is a PAID photo... if being featured in ANY compensated publication or distribution (this even includes wedding/engagement photos) - this structure was paid for by the taxpayers... the city claims that they have royalty rights to any picture that features it.
Best Buy, CompUSA, Fry's, etc... buy mass quanties of computers... the THEY sell to individuals. The quantities are no different between corporations and large resellers.
I thought the moment the transition to Intel processors was announced that Apple should give the mac community OS 9 for free... much as they did with 7.5.5!
The new Intel machines will not be able to access Classic at all... I'm POSITIVE programmers could make it work. (It already works in Mac On Linux)... but it could be so much better with a straight forward implementation rather than emulation ontop of an emulation, on top of a shell (OSX).
A lot of websites steal stories and ideas from blogs (A LOT)...
I have managed to carve out a small niche with my website... my readership has grown high enough that I have people that report "story lifts" from my site.
I recently caught two MacMerc.com & Macsimum News... one of which I reported on my site and the other I see do it all the time, but I can't prove it.
In a lot of ways, the time has come where few if ANY ideas are original... so many ideas out there are being claimed... but who can claim original thought? Do people not think the same things? Often?
They have the wireless service spread over a 10 mile radius at $26.95 a month for 4Mb service.
They have this same service "morphed" into a free downtown Wifi network. (Basically taking the wimax modem and running it into a wireless router then installing repeaters every 300 ft downtown.)
It's building slowly but surely - it's not going to be for big cities - it will be rural broadband.
The report Apple released was pretty clear ... the reporter also has admitted to "embellishing" as well.
And thanks for all the fish
obviously you didn't read. he kept saying, "It can't get any worse". plus he was young. made for a good story.

If you want to read the worst internet date ever
The Worst Date Ever For An Apple Tech
You have to actually look at this like you do stats about Apple Computer:
... a lot more. Therefore the actual number of enrollments may actually be HIGHER.
... but individual unit sales are 2X because there are more people buying computers
There are MORE college students today than 6 years ago
Apple Computer:
Marketshare is lower to flat

Agreed ... and slashdot posts this story because of the hatred for anything FOX related.

I recently caught two MacMerc.com & Macsimum News
In a lot of ways, the time has come where few if ANY ideas are original
Because legal action was threatened against me for reporting consumer advocacy issues and recording phone calls I compiled a list on my website:
... their ignorance only furthers their dishonesty.
Jackwhispers : Recording Phone Call laws State By State
Most dishonest businesses are ignorant of this law
I second that ... it's one of the only "50's" movies that in every way looks completely believable and does NOT need a remake.
The classic shakespeare story of The Tempest is good too!
Keeping the prices high on what is essentially commodity hardware does nothing to alleviate the cost problem."
... therefore a computer cannot be a commodity.
... but you fail to see the value of Apple beyond a computing platform ...
... and that does not factor in the above.
INSERT OIL into that and you see how non sequitur it sounds
Commodities have no quality equation (at least not completely)
"Keeping the prices high on oil (what is essentially a commodity) does nothing to alleviate the cost problem."
Sure it does, demand goes down if prices are high
No virus tax,
Quality components,
Better (and tested) feature set,
Included apps or low cost apps that do what would cost $1000's on a PC
I'm sure you've seen the Apple fanboy posts (which are mostly true)
A similarly equipped PC vs an Apple is either more expensive or equal in price
It's all about quality and the support that goes with lack of quality components and tight engineering.
/. posts suggests pricing competition - it's not even a factor.
The
Apple said anyone who felt the issue was big enough would repair or replace the Nano at no charge ...
what else do these jerkoffs want?
We have a startup called Main Street Wimax ...
They have the wireless service spread over a 10 mile radius at $26.95 a month for 4Mb service.
They have this same service "morphed" into a free downtown Wifi network. (Basically taking the wimax modem and running it into a wireless router then installing repeaters every 300 ft downtown.)

I agree ... I'd rather have better performance than more storage out of my laptop ...
Just use an external drive for storage.
