But by the same token, if the majority of the world did at some point all move away from Windows, Microsoft would lose the browser war anyway. So you can hardly say that the two aren't tied together.
So if the entire world moved to Linux and Mac OS, and only one person, Bill Gates himself, were still running Internet Explorer on Windows, that would be an ideal scenario for Internet Explorer, right? It would then have 100% of the market by your logic.
That's just installing the runtime from the SL-C860 onto an SL-C3000. The fact remains that it still doesn't ship with one, and will never get support for it.
Something they forgot to mention in the article was that the SL-C3000 doesn't include a Java runtime, either on the unit itself, or on the extras CD. I thought Java was supposed to be the big feature they were always going on about alongside Linux while marketing the earlier Zauri, and here they are removing it. WTF.
Ignoring the fact that there are still quite a few phones left that only make calls and do "phone stuff", you can get camera phones for well under $100 new now, so why would you care? Some of them are even so small (e.g. T610) that there would be nothing gained by removing the camera.
Isn't there already an ASN.1 transformation which can already be performed to XML to save space and processing time? Sun were trumpeting it as "Fast Web Services" a year or more ago.
And of course, they'd better be using a modified client, otherwise they'd be breaking the law too, since it will generally upload from them to other users automatically.:-D
Funny, my Web Developer toolbar says Slashdot is in Quirks mode, which means it doesn't even validate as HTML. Point your grimy finger at Slashdot instead.
Exactly. And if you set your SSID to "default" or "router", and actually do secure the thing heavily, then you cause a lot of grief for weenies who think they can get free access.:-)

Now the question is, how long until we see the Pentium M in a desktop, so that it really can compete with that Athlon64. :-)
"Microsoft Excel"...
Because ninjas flip out beyond the max.
An armed escort... man, that's hot.

I'd rather know if it can run Longhorn...
The point was that it's not making the language any more extensible.
So we'd have...
Instead of...
Big improvement.
I think you forgot to mention that MSH stands for MicroSoft Hell.

He's his own Grandma? Holy crap!
Does this mean that someone who happened to somehow download every bit from the copyright owners, would afterwards own a fully legal copy?
Grandpa & Grandma will probably be dead by the time Longhorn comes out.
Yeah, in that respect, this really isn't news. ;-)

JPEG vs. JPEG2000 is still a major problem in a lot of graphics tools. :-)
In any case, I don't see why the new format can't be "jpeg.whateverzip", or whatever. We already have ".svg.gz", so why not?

I once saw "IfYouCanReadThisYouAreTooClose". I figure that dude was pretty introverted, given the range of the thing.

Another solution is to use prepaid cards. They may end up costing more, but it becomes impossible to build up a debt.
Someone's out of your jurisdiction...
