Will Rambus Go Bust?

The bus optimization of RAMBUS is about 80%, while DDR is at about 60% IIRC. Even with bus optimization, DDR comes out to about, 1.382 Gbytes/sec, while RAMBUS comes out at 1.28 Gbytes/sec.
133MHz DDR = 266MHz x 64bits x 0.65(bus optimization) = 1.382 GBytes/sec
400MHz RAMBUS = (400MHz x 2/clock cycle) x 16bits = 1.6 Gbytes/sec
During the initial design stages, they found that RAMBUS chips often overheated and burned out, so some genius thought up of the idea of having a RAMBUS RIMM turn off when it isn't doing much work...rah, that was pretty stupid! To power up the RIMM again, it takes an *ETERNITY* in computer time!
Oh, and RAMBUS costs heaps as well, because of all the patent rubbish.
Bottomline: DDR is CHEAPER, FASTER, and BETTER than RAMBUS.

100 people download it, and each one of them gives it to 10 of their friends, and each of those people give it to 10 of their friends...if you do that enough, everybody in the world will have it by around the 8th generation:-D
I'm waiting for the PalmMMMCVXIIIXVIICVXIIIxec, which is Palm's new color device with a transparent case, and it has 1 extra megabyte of memory!!!!!!!!!
Yep,::$DATA was patched *ages* ago. It was just that the sysadmins of those servers were too lame/lazy to apply the hotfixes/servicepacks.
A NT server staffed by a competant admin can be just as secure as a linux server ya know.
Has anybody penetrated the security of any of the Microsoft.com datacenters? Nope! The admins there have actually properly configured their servers.

AOL is starting to carpet-bomb Australia with their start-up CD's/propoganda:-( Anyway, the other day, I got this AOL CD and threw it out the window, and it hit a powerline and went SMASHHZAP! It was *soooooo* cool!
FYI, yes, Microsoft will be charging duties on participating Passport websites. For any Passport enabled website with up to 500,000 users, MSFT will charge $500 annually. For 1 to 2 million users, MSFT will be charging $20,000 annually.
Creating the actual chips does not cost Intel a lot of money. It is the R&D budget that they are trying to pay off with the chips revenue. If Intel has sold enough processors to pay off its R&D budget, then any processor sold after that is making a profit for Intel. Unless Intel lowers its price of say, P2 chips to $20, they aren't making losses.
FYI, Senator Richard Alston's website is at http://www.richardalston.dcita.gov.au/. Hey, while you're there, drop the minister an email telling him what you think (be nice tho:)

What the fsck? Windows2000 = NT5. The last consumer release of Windows was Windows98SE.
Win2k Professional = NT4 workstation.
There is no such thing as Win2k Personal, altho I suspect that MS may release their next consumer OS as "Windows2000 Home Edition" or something.
That fscking degenerate ISP known as AOL now has an Australia division...oxymornically called "AOL Australia".

Just a few more mergers to go till we see a "You've got McScientology!*" advert on TV

Yes, there are apps for WindowsCE 2.11 which allow you to play MP3's and WMA's.
