    I was taking the stations on the website as moves in order. The last real abandoned station mentioned was Wood Lane - which as everyone knows - is on the the Central Line.

    The corporate world is all about politics, not technology. The people that know the technical answers cannot know the politics behind the problems.

    It could be very bad for the company if a moonlighter helps with a security issue, say, when the offical company line is to deny its existance.

    People should do what their job descriptions says they should do.

    Where can I find the QA documentation, test cases and scripts for ext3? I would like to verify that this bug, and variations thereof, will be caught before release in the future. Thanks.

    They don't seem to be at the ext3 home (linked to in the story).

    Open Source is useless without Open Procedures, Open Documentation and Open Quality Control.

    Sound can cool, because of the compression/expansion mentioned in the article. But heat does not just vanish, it is transferred to the sound by this process.

    If the sound is left to bounce around inside the fridge, then it will heat up. The total energy in the fridge is increasing - cooling somewhere causes heating somewhere else.

    If the sound is allowed out of the fridge, then this will cool the fridge. But who wants a 173dB fridge?

    It's is well known (although I cannot remember the technical name for the effect) that people are 'loyal' to their decisions. Even if they've made a bad choice, there is an internal attempt to justify it.

    I've done NMR, it takes ages. Preparing the sample takes about 30 minutes. Running the NMR takes between 1 and 20 minutes depending on what you're measuring. Analysing the results depends on how good you are.

    I can't see google using this any time soon.

    James Bond films don't need reviewing. Everyone knows exactly what they're going to get ... explosions, nasty baddies, Bond being cool, gadgets and girls.

    There is no pretension, unlike other films mentioned here, just good old-fashioned fun.

    It's funny how there are more comments about Bond than Solaris.
