    i think someone should force the change
    because more and more peoples start to use the internet and it will just be more expensive to wait
    i think we can agree that the point will come when the change is absolutely necessary
    let us assume now 60 % of the address space is engaged
    it will be near half as expensive to switch to IPv6 as to wait for over 90 % of the addresses to be assigned
    i see another economical threat comming with more assigned addresses
    the increasing price of the address space
    there are two winners in such a development
    the network hardware vendors could sell their hardware twice to all the new customers
    and the people providing the address space
    i think the dangerous thing is that those parties have a heavy importance to the decision when to switch to IPv6

    i think the G5 is a interesting product
    even if it's not the fastest solution it is quite cheap for a dual cpu
    at least nobody will be able to say OS X is good but those damn macs suck they are just to slow

    i think if the open source driver would be near the same quality if not better if the programmers had the same access to hardware and specifications as the guys writing drivers for ati or nvidia
    i would like to see ati and nvidia to release their drivers open source or at least the parts they have the right to
    they are hardware companys and i don't think it would hurt them more then it would help
    just start thinking about drivers ported to every fcking OS you can think of
    the community could help 'em to find and fix bugs

    starting DM-Serpentine with the ati-drivers 2.9.12 results in a hard lookup
    you got the same problem????

    for me it was the other way around
    maybe because i'm overclocking everything i can get hands on =)
    but i had no problem with xfs
    but ReiserFS i had no good experience
    if there were a noticable performance increase with using ReiserFS i would try it again
    but as far as i heard XFS is faster except for very small files

    games that are windows i play but don't buy
    in the last half year there were only 3 games i used windows for CS, BF1942 and GTA Vice City
    cs because my mates play it a lot at lans (even went to korea last year)
    gta and bf1942 because it's fun
    there is q3 with a shitload of funny mods, nwn, ut2003, rtcw and rtcw et
    and most of the time its all i need

    i think this should prove my claim
    i don't know if it is true that the american head of the coporation even knew about the holocaust their machines supported
    or if they like the lawyer claimes delivered machines after the USA took part in the war
    but if it was the case it will be very hard to prove because ibm could have destroyed any documents shortly after the war has been over

    they did support the nazis with providing them with computer technology
    a alot of other american companys supported nazi germany too, like Standart Oil or Ford
    I don't know how much they really knew about what was going on in germany
    and if they really tried to support it or just tried to make profit
    but as matter of fact the german Luftwaffe would no have been able to fly without the delivery of a huge amount of specialized lube oil form Standart Oil
    first direct form the US later over 3rd party countrys

    one point is the technical view
    the other is the political or social view
    if you spend money on comercial software the there are only two parties that profit, the payer and the seller
    the taxpayer is paying the money but has no direct profit
    in my view of the whole thing the govt should to the best bang for the taxpayers buck
    and in my opinion the OSS buck makes a lot more bang
    if you spend money on opensource software the govt and the developers profit as above
    and additionally every single softwareusing citizen profits
    it may be some homeuser from the improved OS office suite
    it may be a small business from a accounting software
    or a school kid that has now a second computer room at school because of the saved money
    i know it is Brazil so we should maybe talk about a school at all for this kid
    but it makes every saved cent even more important
    maybe it could even have a good influence on a countrys economy
    it could even be some sort of indirect tax reduction
    i think OSS is what every honest politician owns his people

    they care about costs
    and they care about what it will cost them to get someone to support them to solve they could have asked a co-worker or neighbour or that they could have solved themself with office 2003
    and i don't know any computer shop that sells pc's with openoffice preinstalled
    i think it could be very good for them to give all their users a free office package with the each system
    next time i go to a computer shop i will ask em why they don't just do it

    but i prefers linux anyway and so i don't use windows

    maybe you copyed the comments and rewrote the code
    and i think if they had something "hard" like copied code they would state it clearly or even show it
    i think it's more something someone at IBM could have seen and now there is the same function in the linux kernel added by someone from IBM

    does this make any sense???
    when finally a game comes out that uses your graphic card features the card will be way to slow
    i mean common, would you play doom III on a geforce (I)
    a long time DIII was aimed at gf3 but i would like to buy a card faster then a radeon 9700 Pro to play it
    i say what matters are the games that come out in a year after the card is bought
    but 3DMark aims at features which will be in games in 2 or 3 years

    i am not such a nvidia friend
    but they have the best linux support
    except my nforce2 bord has no agp driver for no nvidia cards =((((
    and ati has cheated too
    there where drivers that got more fps in quake3 and reduced the image quality without telling something to the users/benchmarkers
    it is about time that someone writes a good benchmark tool for linux
    some part could be synthetically but it would be nice to include some games/demos
