Chrome is a resource hog on Windows too. I came back last weekend to find that all 16GB of RAM on my work computer were spoken for, causing things to run at a crawl. I checked Task Manager and could see various tabs each taking up over 1GB, so I closed Chrome out, killed its background processes for good measure, and immediately regained 9GB of memory, even though I had only had around 6-8 tabs open. Others at work have had similar issues, so much so that we have to be careful about having Chrome running while also using VMs or doing memory intensive tests.
Can say I have never had this happen to me. Currently have 32 tabs open, some JS heavy, others just html. Not going above 99MB of my apparently 8gb (mobo isnt recognizing the other 10 I just realized. Taking donations for a new board!
Apparently they are qualified enough to do the job. There needs to be enough competition for the jobs, yet discourage obvious abuses. Setting a reasonable minimum wage would go a long way to fix that. But unfortunately, that idea is anathema in the US. Far too greedy on all sides of the line.
I agree. We DO need more video game control. We need to be able to stop shitty games being made. Companies that make shit games, EA I am looking at you, that use draconian DRM, UBI....again...., and just generally bring the industry into disrepute, all need to be punished. Severely.

They are trying to keep up with the Jones'. Chrome version number went from like 1 to 14 in a matter of what.... 2 years? And because it is Google, people trumpeted this saying, "Look, Google is introducing new stuff all the time! Wow!" when in reality probably 85% of what they released would have been a point update, or an increment update under the original FF scheme. But Google realised that people like big numbers and the APPEARANCE of progress.
So, in sum, faster release cycles because users are dumb.
So, people are expected to know what they sign up for and be responsible for it. I fail to see the news, other than a company is going to show just how many stupid people there are in the nation, and ones that do not take responsibility for themselves or their habits.
Sadly they don't care what we think - if we pirate or don't pirate it doesn't matter as they will call you a pirate anyway.
A lost sale = pirate, no it can't possibly be that the game is shit so no-one bought it.... or the DRM is shit so no-one bought it.
As for those who are pissed off about "From Dust" having shit DRM - I have a simple rule for avoiding DRM: Does the box have a Ubisoft logo? Don't buy it.
Is the game available from GOG.com? Or is it freeware? Avoid it as it will have some form of DRM on it. What? That limits you and ISN'T what you do? Well now, so there are some DRMs that you are fine with....either that or you are a moron prone to hyperbole.
That is part of the catch though isn't it. They don't necessarily have to prove you guilty like they would in a court situation. Instead, now you have to take them to court and prove your innocence. And all so you can use what may be the only internet connection available to you. They couldn't win with their previous strategy, so they move onto plan B. And part of plan B is that a privately owned and run entity does not have to do business with you should they choose not to. See where this goes?
Funny.... my FF with no matter how many tabs never goes over 500 meg and usually stays around the 300 meg mark (usually have atleast 15 tabs open). I swear those who say memory leaks memory leak memory leaks must be using dodgy add-on and using a 30 year old PC with Bill Gate's recommended max memory.
Land of the Free (Ride for corporations with massive lobby groups)!
Seriously, the ONLY difference with putting it in the cloud and setting up a server in your own home to do this is the RIAA et al see this one and want their Free Lunch.
But it is apple. The fanboi's will buy it as will those who like shinies. Why do you think they can afford to release a new iphone every what... 6 months or so? People want the latest 'bling' and don't care. Marketing strategy working fine.
Price will come down much like they did for ADSL. It wasn't that long ago that 100GB was the upper limit for ADSL here in Oz. Now we have ISP's offering terrabyte plans. The problem as I see it will be reaching critical mass which will be the main price dropper. If the libs get in this won't happen. Let us hope for more contracts that are really expensive to renege on.
But the gaming population consists of 50% of them. Obviously there is something they like in these 'boy' games. Or does the group who commissioned/produced the report want gaming to be 75% girls and 25% boys, screaming feminine slogans like those who believe sexism is the reason why women don't get as many top jobs and not their lifestyle choices?
And just as the federal govt has announced the 'success' of its internet filter trial and has plans to put it before senate to enact it into law. Fail much?
I remember that level in MoH. Was good fun. Frustrating for about an hour until you get it.
Whilst I don't think that people should cheat, or look up strategy guides, in some games, the developers do not do a good enough job to let you know whats required to move on. In a GOOD game, its not needed. In a mediocre game, it can be.
Have to agree with this post. People are lazy. IE does the job for them (and some actually like it). Say M$ stops bundling IE with windows, what are they going to use as a web browser if the vendor doesn't pre-install one (and no you cannot assume they will)?
Also, look at the N versions in the EU. They don't sell. It was a useless lawsuit that created a useless product that no one wants. M$ is the EU's cash cow. Nothing more.
Maybe that have tried and failed because of a lack of motivation amongst the availiable applicants. I know in some industries people come in with high hopes, don't get them and then end up causing more trouble than they are worth, or just leave.
On the other hand, setup a system like the visa program and ALLOW it to be abused by not protecting those it brings in like they were your own and what can you expect? You get what you deserve.
This has nothing to do with it. Only to do with regional areas not having super fast broadband. The telco's just don't want to invest anymore, and with your economy as it is, well.... a large handout would be needed.
As for pop. density, try Oz. Ours sucks even in the populated areas.
I wonder what else the US citizenry will allow to screw them over. I mean in economic times like these STILL allowing the big boys to LESSEN competition? WTG!!

The rules were simple for this, but they got deleted.

Wrong. I can buy in the US and get it shipped here and still save anywhere from 10-30%.
go back and try again.
The reason they charge it is because they CAN charge it. It is called the Apple tax on top of the Better Beaches'n'beer tax.

You are an idiot. Thank yourself and every other american who voted for every president since nixon.
I for one welcome our robotic overlords!

Studies like this piss me the fuck off. morons.
Whilst I applaud your math, did you read everything? HALF pay taxes (roughly).
So:
0.2*320m*0.5= 32 million.
And just as the federal govt has announced the 'success' of its internet filter trial and has plans to put it before senate to enact it into law. Fail much?
Yet you missed the fact its AUSTRALIAN. Sure, lets give AUSTRALIAN corps free access, and charge US and EU corps double because we want to be asses
