I thought WMV and H.264 were supposed to be standards for the next generation of High Definition DVD video and that the specs for WMV had been released out in the open no? If the specs are out there, why hasn't somebody written the codec for it?
Compare this to the G5 cluster which cost about 5 Million US$. That is about 1/2 the cost of this setup on a cost/tera flop basis. Of course this may not necessarily be true when the processor count goes down... but still something to consider.
There was one time a few months ago when the site was down but since then I have not experienced any problems. I don't know why you are getting so many problems.
I think the new iPods are coming out in August so I am assuming that they will release a software update sometime between now and then for the exisiting iPods... I really like the playcount sync feature.
I have since switched to iView Media Pro. It is awesome for organizing large collections of digital media (photos + videos). It even handles the RAW file formats of Nikon and Canon cameras.
I threw 2000 pictures at it and it handled it beautifully. Those guys who are looking into more serious digital photography or those with a large collection of pictures should look into iView Media Pro. It is worth the $49 you will have to spend after the trial.
I am sure that is US Dollars. I don't think that is too pricey given that it has the SuperDrive. The drive itself costs around $500 and given that it has a G4 processor and flat panel...I think that's reasonable.
For comparision's sake, a DELL with a DVD burner and a 15 inch flat panel costs around US$ 2500.
I watched on TV (Discovery I think) sometime ago where they were doing something similar with pure water in Canada. Basically they were using an abandoned mine shaft to trap these particles and the bottom was lined with pure water...or something like that..
Depends where you are...
For such a small country, Nepal has a pretty wide temperature range. The area where this guy comes from has a minimum of about -5 degrees centigrade and a max of about 25 degrees centigrade.
I think we could say the same about the Microsoft Media Player as well. More and more sites are using Media player as their streaming media of choice and I feel that the UNIX users are getting left out because of this trend....but I did hear that Realnetworks licensed the format from Microsoft. How long before we get to see a RealPlayer streaming Microsoft Media format on Linux?
But aren't the total cost of deploying the wavelan based WLANs something like $1,000? Not something that I can afford. I am however thinking about going with $150 Aviator 2.4s.
I totally agree with you here. Stock prices are definitely overvalued here. Look at VA-Linux..what is the difference between VA and Compaq? They are both hardware vendors that sell machines configured with Linux/Windows. How come VA linx's share price is in the hundreds and compaq at 20 something? Dooms day is coming and when it comes, watch the people jump out of their high rise penthouse offices...
I am a bit confused by the status of WMV ...

I was at Java One conference at Yokohama, Japan today and noticed that James Gosling was using Mac OS X.

I don't know about you but if somebody like James Gosling is using OS X then Apple must be doing something right.

This release does not work on NFS exported home directories. There has been long discussions on this subject but it seems Palm doesn't care.

I am sure that the Powermac G4 upgrades will be announced soon. The iMacs are already at 800 so the Powermacs would at least have to be 1Ghz+...
Earliere today I saw this link regarding Dual 1.4Ghz G4s but obviously it was bogus....Oh well... I guess I am to blame for getting my hopes up.

I believe 1800 was for the top-of-the-line iMac. $1299 probably is for the entry-level.

Could this be part of the hype in that he has something up his sleeve for the "one last thing" product?
Here is the link to the site in Canada...

Apple has just updated their product page about this device. Looks very cool and will probably get it to match the colors of my ibook.
So...Apple has been on Slashdot quite bit lately no?
Just shows how cool they are. Yeah!

I also have the same ibook with DVD-drive. It has 312 Megs of RAM in it.

All I have to say is that I am sticking to my III until they fit my pager, cell phone and Rios into one V sized device. (Maybe in 3 years?)
