Back when I was 10 and working in good 'ol DOS, I thought a cool trick to play on someone would be to create a little BAT file that attribed everything to +read-only, +hidden, and +system... *recursivley*, effectively leaving the whole hard drive appearing blank. Of course, being a smart little kid, I wrote another BAT file to un-do the mess.
When the time came to test it out, sure enough, it made *all* the files dissappear... even the ones that could revert my little trick. Oops.
And to top it off, I couldn't get any of the other ATTRIB.EXE files to work off any floppies because of differing DOS versions and corrupt 5.25" disks, so I called it quits and reformatted.
Moral of the story: don't test a desctructive "virus" on the only machine that has the antidote.
Sorry dude, it was a joke... I hate getting those email forwards from people who think there really is a law before congress on e-mail taxation...
peace
E-mails are not going to be taxed, there is going to be a fee from the U.S. Postal service. In fact, there is a bill in office right now, called U.R. ID10T -- Call your congressman/woman right now and tell them to vote NO to any e-mail fees! Oh yes, and make sure and send this on to at least 99 friends or you will have bad luck for a week and Bill Gates will not send your check for 1,401,401
The technology that makes this possible -- known as digital rights management, or DRM -- will forever change the way we consume media and software, experts believe.
Either they forget to ask the "experts" here on Slashdot, or they neglected to mention that "consuming" means buying more blank CD-R and DVD+/-R media and burning the night oil "hacking".
Seriously, though, I have worked with many clients that are concerned about people pirating their data. But after I explain that pretty much nothing can stop the most diligent person, they can swallow it. Stopping the curious Joe Moe from making a copy makes sense - it's cheaper for him to run down to Wally World and buy another copy. But noooo, let's frustrate Mr. Moe by making sure that neither him or his friends can play the latest media without the latest hardware. Arrrgh...
Dang dude, you should get your head checked out... BTW, this thing is a little taller than your tree. At least, I hope your parents didn't let you play in 400 ft+ trees!
Next time you drop out of a tree that big, I am sure you could sell tickets and people would stand in line for 2 hours... shoot, your heirs might get movie rights.
It's a sad world folks...Falling doesn't hurt... it's the sudden ending that really gets to me.TM
It sends the video from your PC to your VCR, TV, or whatever - wireless. Very cool, and alot cheaper than the product in the article. It even has a nifty "mouse" - takes some getting used to, but it's great for us lazy remote-punching couch potatoes.
Just like the name implies, it is very fast. It will really help you speed up development time if you end up re-working your HTML or JavaScript layout/code. Well worth the time to seperate PHP and HTML, especially if you have more than one person on the project or could in the future. Have fun!
Quick! Someone tell CmdrTaco. ;-)
I am afraid these guys are for real...

Yeah, really... not to mention ELECTRICITY. Can you believe it? With all our great new knowledge we still something that old. Inconceivable!
I can see it now....

I hate promoting a company that is one of the largest perpetrators of pop-ups, but X10.com has a really cool product that my friend uses.

The problem is collecting that money. There is no way that the spammers - who forge their headers and identity - will pay up.
