  1. So, the truth's out, is it? on SCO Announces Final Termination of IBM's Licence · · Score: 5, Interesting

Oh, now the line is that there is "Sequent-UNIX" code in the kernel, with no mention of Sys V code?

So, what we're really talking about is IBM code. No more BS weasle-words, they're talking about code they NEVER owned in the first place.

Well, that tears it: SCO's suing IBM for contributing their own code to the kernel. Yeah, that's totally gonna hold up in court.

  6. McCall's is missing the point on DMCA Vs. The Sewing Underground · · Score: 1
They're not losing any money at all from these patterns. These are patterns that if someone went to the store, they wouldn't find - they would have been thrown away like the ones sold on the website.

Though I doubt McCall's would admit it, they're not losing sales because of this site and they damn-well know it. They're losing sales for the same reason the RIAA and MPAA are; They charge too much money for a product that becomes less and less attractive as the years go by.

What they're losing is customers. I don't buy music hardly at all anymore, and I haven't downloaded an mp3 in my life (Most I've heard don't meet my sound quality standards).

I've known a total of ONE woman my age that has a sewing machine, and I'll bet her daughter won't have one - times change, fer chrissakes. In 40 years, McCall's might as well be selling horse-drawn carriages for all the relevence they're likely to have by then. And I think McCall's doesn't want to remain relevant. I don't think they give a damn about they're customers, really. Why do I say that?

Please note: Patterns are not for sale on this site. Please visit your local retailer to purchase McCall's patterns.

At least you can buy the over-priced and increasingly pointless CDs online. McCall's won't even let someone sell their trash.

Cool! I've always been able to hear green. My synesthesia is pretty mild, but "the sound that green makes" is pretty strong for me. I've also been told that I use very strange decriptive words and metaphors.

I've read about synesthesia before, and I'm pretty sure that's what I have. But I also make some connections that I've never read other synesthetes making. For example, I've always had a hard time keeping the letter B and the number 5 seperate in my mind. Caused some serious confusion when I was taking orders at a pizza place!

"also remove those people who vote for them."

What do you mean...the public? You know, while marginalizing people who have a different opinion from yours might tidy things up a bit with government as far as you're concerned, I can't say that I share your sentiment.

That's me being diplomatic. If I was sure what you meant was that all those who disagree with you shouldn't be allowed to vote, I'd just call you an ass.

I have the unfortunate distinction of being a resident of MI. I just don't get this one. I mean, if this whole mess was an effort to combat cable theft or something, why did this law ever get passed in the first place? I figured the laws against THEFT pretty much handled such issues.

The constant addition of restrictions in order to control the potential of crime or to diminish the ease in which they can be conducted is stupid to me. I mean, murdering people would be a lot harder if I didn't have any arms, but I doubt anyone's gonna pass a law requiring me to give them up.

My only real complaint about the book is how poorly it was edited.
